Wife used a kitchen scrubbibg sponge on my hood!

To get off a few slight blemish's on the hood of my '97 CL 3.0 premium(black)my wife took her kitchen sponge and scrubbed my hood!I cringe at the thought of it.Now, i have swirl mark's into the paint.I have tried everythin including a scrath remover advertised on TV (GSR something)That did not work at all.I applied Meguires cleaner/Wax paste and that improved it a little, but still it looks horrible.Any ideas?

Why...why...why would she do that???

I'm assuming she's been punished for her deed.

Go and buy some 3M Finesse It. It's a very good polishing compound.

Follow up with a good coat of polish, not wax, polish.

3M "Perfect-it" Polish & Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colored cars.

I believe its part # 39009.

Go to a local Napa or PepBoys... or you can get it off 3m.com and I think Autopia-carcare.com sells it.

I agree. You need 3M's Finesse It for this task so that you can get some of the scratches out of your hood.

My girlfriend did something very similar when I was debadging my car. I didn't have the right solution to take off the remaining adhesive and just left it on til lI could pick som eup, But then she had a better idea, that she'd clean it off for me as a surprise. BAD IDEA! same thing a damm kitchen sponge (yellow on one side and green on the other) Well I thought the scratches would never come out and I was sure that it would need to be repainted (clear coat was non existent anymore) But sure enough with some amazing bottle from 3M and a super super fine grit sandpaper followed by some machine polishing it looks smooth and slinky again (minus all the badges except that big A) I think it looks much cleaner now, so moral of story DON'T WORRY

Think that 3M stuff would help clean up the mess of my clear coat disappearing from the sunlight according to acura. It wasnt bad at first but its a real mess now.
