Why PC?

Just wondering why the Porter Cable seems to be the only one people use. I have seen lots of different buffers for way cheaper than the PC. I've never used one at all so I have no idea what makes one better than another, so please fill me in before I buy.

Thanks

I remember when I first started detailing........I went to harbor Freight and bought one of those Orbital Buffers for like $15.00. Took it home and thought it was waaay cool. Then I fig'd i was spending way too much time on the car, with too little results. So I dumped $120.00 and bought a PC...........This was all before I even owned my own detailing company. So, imagine your possibilities? I went from a guy who didnt know a whole lot, to owning my own detailing services company, and detailing e-commerce site........All because of the positive benefits a PC 7424 has brought to me.....
It is night......and day.

I think the question should be "Why not a PC?" The Porter Cable 7424/7336 is a very versatile tool and anyone serious about detailing should have one. Yes, their will be an initial investment and in the long run will pay off. Why pay to have your car detailed when you can do it yourself. The PC has variable speeds whereas your other orbital buffers (Wen, Waxmaster, etc) is either has one or two speed settings. The PC is capable of 2500-6000 orbits per minute (OPM) compared to a max of 3200 OPM on other orbital buffers. It can be set at lower speeds for product application as well as removal and higher speeds settings for removing/correcting surface defects. You have the ability to use polishing pads with various degrees of abrasivness or cut. Most of the other orbitals do not have that capability. The PC is very user friendly and will not cause any type of damage to the surface unless one induces or initiates any type of action. The PC will definetly reduce working time allowing you more time to enjoy your vehicle rather than maintaining it. But in the end, the choice is entirely yours, so "Why not a PC?"

I don't think they are and if they were, I'm quite certain it would have been posted somewhere. Besides, you would probably need polishing pads & possibly a backing plate. I wouldn't use the one it comes with just to be on the safe side.
