Where did you purchase your PC?

So I did a few searches and found lowes was one possibility but it doesnt have the specific one that most car detailer use.

So my question is what e-tailer or B&M store did you purchase this at?

TY.

While on the subject, why is the PC the weapon of choice? Can I purchase other brands?

Lowes.....alot of people use it to minimize the risk of burning clear coat. It also seems to have a decent amount of power and speed to break down most polishes.

Lowe's, although many online retailers offer a great package with the needed backplate and pads.

I don't think anyone makes a truly comparable product.

Lowe's carried the 7336SP or used to and I believe a number of folks purchased this model before it was closed out. The other model is the 7424 and both are exactly the same machine with the exception of the counterweight. These two are the ones most often used by enthusiasts and detailers. Which specific model we're you looking for? Check locally first and then the web for best prices. Coastal Tool still has it for $119.

There are several dual action buffers available. The G100 from Megs, which looks like a PC. I couldn't tell you if there are any differences other than the cost. Griots Random Orbital also has a similar product.

The PC makes detailing a breeze. From application of sealant/waxes to removing surface defects, the tool will give you consistent results every time. It's foolproof and much more forgiving than a rotary. One has to initiate an action to cause any damage.

I purchased my PC 7424 which included a "cross-drilled" backing plate and "starter-kit" from Griot's Garage about a year and a half ago. I've been very pleased with the results. GG recommended their backing plate and their pads to aide in disappating heat build-up from the pad that can be caused by inexperience with the PC and/or lack of proper lubrication of product on the pad and CC surface. I don't know if it makes a huge difference as I have since begun using other manufacturer's product with my PC. I paid around $149 for the kit.

Pretty hard to build up any form of damaging heat with a PC .. least I havn't been able to in 3 years of continuous use on a couple hundred cars. .. Good Griots marketing again ..
