Well, this is a more $$$ than a shop vac, but if you want something that is a killer vacuum cleaner, here is the one. You can pick up all the dog hair you want, then use the "exhaust" to blow your car dry!

i think shop vac is the most economical way to go. it picks up everything and you can use it for the house.

I have one and use it...

However, I checked out a friend who had the Griot's unit, and it really sucked -- a lot of stuff up (more than my shop vac).

It is also much smaller and powerful. A shop vac can be purchased on sale, but if you really want to go crazy, that small unit really does a great job -- and it does it fast!

The shop vac draws too much juice and only has a 120V plug on it. (If you ran an inverter (for the vacuum) you would need to run huge clips to the battery to keep from roasting the wiring!

The Griot's unit has something like 4 HP -- this means the unit will draw over 15 amps at full tilt! A wall socket will deliver somewhere around 15-20 amps!!! I saw the unit in blower mode and it was like a leaf blower...
