What is in your car cleaning kit?

What brands of the following items do you have?

washcloth/brush -
carwash soap -
car wax -
dry cloth -
window cleaner -
tire cleaner -
wheel cleaner -
leather cleaner -

I want to get an idea of what everyone else is currently using before I go out and buy it all for my new TSX. Maybe suggest one item that is a must have that doesn't fit in those categories.

washcloth/brush - Eurow sheepskin washmit from Wal-Mart
carwash soap - Meguiar's NXT
car wax - When I have dark cars - Klasse -- When I have light cars - Vanilla Moose Glaze, S100 wax
dry cloth - some microfiber towels I bought from Autopia
window cleaner - Stoner Spray Window Cleaner
tire cleaner - nothing specific
wheel cleaner - water only, I wax my wheels
leather cleaner - I don't have leather. I used to use the Lexol stuff on my Jetta, but next leather I have will be treated with whatever Porsche labels as their own stuff, it's really nice.

I have the Meguiars Wash, Polish, and Wax.

I use chamoil (sp) towels to dry, California blade, Quick detailing spray, Tire shine Gel, RainX for windows, lint-free towels for interior cleaning, and many leather conditioner + cleaner.

iamhomin, who doesn't know the name of the brands he uses.

I detail as a 2nd job

Although my madness started off as a hobby, and most of the stuff I use I had before I started doing it for money

sidenote: I've used many different quick detailers in the past few years, but nothing matches Quickshine by Clearkote... don't mean to advertise for them, but you have to try it to believe it. It is by far one of the best products I have ever used. www.clearkote.com

Only problem with that stuff is it contains Caruba. Caruba interferes with layer for Polymer sealents. So, if you are using Klasse SG, Zanio, or something of that ilk, you probably want to use something else.

I have a gallon of FI in my garage too. I do love that stuff, and it works well with Klasse. My only complaint is that it doens't really do much to enhance the shine.

CLpower - I'm impressed by your knowledge of detailing stuff. Your posts are becoming a "must read" for me!

Thanks, I actually got a gallon of Last Touch in the mail just now, gonna give this a shot right now. I thought I had ordered FI, but guess not.

As I remember FI is being reformulated to deal w/ streakign some people have noticed and is being turned into something similiar as LT. Atleast that's what the guys at megs told me

Have any of you used the Sonus products? I was looking at the Cockpit Detailer stuff, I'm in need of something besides Vinylex.

Jaydub - I heard that the Total Eclispe Sonus product produces a nice matte finish, but have not used it myself. Many posters here use 303 (which I use myself) and it works great. I'd definitely recommend that product.

Vinylex is good stuff, but it is a tad to shiny for the interior detailing (IMO). Lately, I've been using either Vinylex or Megs NXT Protectant for the exterior and 303 on the interior.

That's exactly why I'm looking for something else, I can't handle the minor bit of shine that comes with Vinylex. I found a few places locally which carry the 303 (though the prices sucked) so I am trying to decide between it and the Sonus. Perhaps I'll bargain for a sample of it.

I've heard good things about Sonus, yet to use them. I have used 303 though. I really don't like putting stuff on dash's. I just dust them and go over them w/ a damp cloth.

You're not alone in that perspective, CLpower. A lot of drivers complain that products like NXT and even 303 increase dust, make the dash more sticky, and increase the shine. Personally, I like to use 303, but I try not to use too much of it.

Most of the time I clean it using a dry MF cloth. Does a nice job of soaking up the dust.

I use a damp microfiber towel to dust. I apply Son of a Gun maybe twice a yr. Don't think it's the best product out there, but works for me.

my prefered brand of choice for dash and interior cleaning in general is Einszettes Cockpit Premium. it leaves a beautiful matte finish with no glare or shine and the smell is great. it really gives the dash that "straight from the factory" look. plus cockpit premium has ultraviolet protection and anti static properties. repels dust very nicely and is safe to clean the leather with .

Ewwww, I like multitaskers. I've been using 303 cleaner and protectant for dash/doors and Zaino's leather cleaner and conditioner.

Think I could replace all these products with the ECP?

heck yeah! cockpit premium is safe enough to use on leather and strong enough for vinyl cleaning. i use it for everything in the interior but windows. if einszettes charged $20 a bottle i'd still buy it.

i have alot of 303 lying around but i mainly just use it for rubber door seals and highlighting engine hoses and such. to me, nothing looks more cheap and unprofessional than a shiny glossy dash. and the same goes for tires. but thats just me. einszettes teifenphlager leaves tires with a nice matte finish but with a touch of depth.

That is what I use and I love the stuff. It works great IMO with no annoying glare.

I prefer the high gloss look. I use 303 on the interior vinyl and alternate zaino leather conditioner and 303 on the leather. The zaino leather conditioner has a great new leather smell to it, which really adds to the new car smell. For my tires I use regular armor all and the high gloss armor all, depending what I feel like putting on. The high gloss armor all is kind of nasty stuff, very sticky, but both products seem to leave the tires treated blacker than brand new even a few weeks after application, though I generally reapply weekly.

I use zaino on the outside of my car, and zaino detail spray after every wash. For the wash itself I use a mixture of Zaino wash and 1Z perls. Zaino wash seems to leave white residue in the crevices, which has been minimized by the addition of another shampoo.
