What type of air freshener do you use?

So far I've tried the Japanese ones, they smell good but I'm just sick of em. The ones you find at Target are just too aweful!

So I'm resorting to Febreeze but that doesn't last long. I was thinking going to a candle store and get a "manly" smelling candles.

I just go to "In and Out" and grab a combo, usually a double-double. Let that sit in the car for the ride home, and the car smells great (to me...) for a couple of weeks... YMMV.

LMFAO.............
I use to use the Yankee candle freshners, but when they say "Up to 30 days" they meant for "Only 30 days"....I have since gone to the Duragloss Odor Eliminator. I blast once a week, and it kills whatever "smells". I prefer a rather neutral to no smell, as opossed to a air freshener smell......just my dimes worth here.

this is the ghetto but effective way IMO. get like a small bottle of some sort.. a film roll tube works great.. stuff it with cotton, put your favorite smelling scent inside. febreeze usually. tape the top or use the cap. poke some big holes in it and leave it sitting somewhere upright. under the seat or something. you could try putting cologne but, that doesn't last as long since its made of maily alcohol which evaporates too quick. ghetto i know.. but hey, works! try it. see if it works out for you.

I used to love that stuff now I'm actually trying to get rid of that scent.

I might go neutral or even the scent of a freshly cleaned car.

I've been using the Griot's Garage Leather Scent spray for the past 5 years or so. The same bottle has lasted me this long and it's only about 1/2 through. You don't have to use it often. I spray one or two pumps on the carpet and that's that. It's very subtle after it dissipates.
Every time new people get in I get compliments that it smells good, and a few weeks ago I got a "your car always smells so good" from someone

If you want the "neutral" smell, go to autozone or kmart and buy OZIUM original, and their new car actually is not half bad either. One quick burst and your good to go for a while!

It may not be to your taste, but I've been known to use a fabric softener sheet tucked under the seat to give subtle clean scent to a freshly detailed vehicle.
A friend of mine uses some sort of odor-absorbing mesh bag with what appears to be little pebbles inside.

Rob, we are thinking alike. Actually I have never done it but I think this thread inspired the though a couple days ago. Sometimes i put one in my jacket pocket to keep things smelling fresh.
As for that other deoderizer? Those are actually volcanic rocks which absorb odors, and moisture naturally.....

I just use an "expired" hang-up freshener and soaked it with my favorite cologne. So the car smells like ME. The only funny thing is I never notice it but everyone else who gets in the car does.

I've always been weary of using these kinds of sprays, probably for a stupid reason. Have you ever noticed any discoloration of the carpeting after using it for so long? Where do you spray it, on the carpet in foot well or underneath the seat?

Thanks!

I used to worry about that, but with the OEM carpeted mats on my TSX, there has been no discoloration after almost 3 years. I usually spray it on the foot well of the front seats.
There was no discoloration on the mats of my old CL-S after 2.5 years FWIW.

Smells and Odours:
If the interior has a lingering odour from French fries, spilled milk, or misplaced baby diapers or wet pets, use a product that chemically alters the proteins that odour-causing microbes feed on (Auto Internationals Odor Terminator (Valuguard) most odours will be eliminated (http://www.autoint.com) that is non-toxic, non-allergenic, fast acting, without a cover up scent or an offensive perfume smell.
