What do you do when it rains?

Unfortunately I have to drive in the rainy weather to get to work & school, and I really don't see the point of washing your car after it rains. Would it be ok to just wipe the car down with a WW microfiber after it rains? I'm talking when it rains hard, not when it sprinkles and leaves your car dirty.

You really risk rubbing fine particles across the surface. I would say at a minumum, a NRWS would be better suited.

I used to do this when it would rain within 24 hours of washing my car. Ever since I bought the TL and really got into car care, I would never do it now knowing what I know today.

What color car do you drive? Does it show that bad? Certain colors are worse. If you have a dark color car, I feel for ya. I used to have a dark blue car (Alero) and the minute it rained, your clean car was done for, haha. When I got my white CL, the rain barely bothered me... Surprisingly with the CGP TL, rain isn't all that bad for a darker colored car

Even a hard rain pour won't remove all the dirt and particles sitting on your paint. You're just gonna end up pushing the microscopic dirt around which will lead to swirls and marring.

If you don't have the time to wash it (soap and wather or no rinse wash), just leave it alone until another day.

Love it when it rains. I get to show off the excellent beading off my hood. But
then I drive and all the beading comes off so I park and let it accumulate again!

Don't worry about rain. Wash it (properly) for the sake of removing dirt but don't be tempted to remove the (rain)water as the beads are full of dirt and can be like sandpaper to your clearcoat.

I get this crazy question from my neighbors wondering why I spend so much time washing my car. All I say is "I love drying it" it's almost better than sex...........

I wash BEFORE it rains, so that dirt and schmutz that has accumulated doesn't mix with rainwater and a) start to work on the finish, and b) condense at the drain points, and c) bugs and other crap don't get softened by the rainwater, then harden in an even more permanent manner. In my experience, washing regularly (or keeping a vehicle under cover 50% or more) and before it rains, keeps a good wax/finish job lasting several months ... and by that I mean, the water beads up properly and runs off lickety-split. Did this just last night, in fact.

Something I learned washing aircraft in the USCG.

Rain shouldn't make a car filthy, unless you live next to an industrial plant. "Rain makes my car filthy again" probably means it was dirty but just didn't look like it.

If it's rainy out then everyone else's car is dirty too so don't worry about it. Running towels over a dirty car will mess the clear coat.
