udm pad selection...

my car is new, i want it to look great...do i want to use a lite cut pad like lake country orange, or should i be using something softer like lake country black...the orange seems pretty firm, while the black seems kind of soft...i also have a white one that came with udm, would this be a good pad for polishing...i will be using some pretty mild polish...

thanks again guys

Lake Country 6.5" Flat Polishing Pads - These pads are designed for ultimate surface contact. Since the CCS pads were introduced only a few sites carry these. Top of the Line, Detailed Image and Danase. For more info contact Lake Country and possibly order directly.
 Yellow (Cutting) - Use with a compound or heavy cutting polish for deeper scratches and swirls. Hazing and micromarring is to be expected and can be removed with lighter pads and polishing combinations.
 Orange (Light Cut) - medium cutting polishes and compounds that reduce and eliminate swirls and fine scratches. A great way to begin a detail and create the most dramatic results.
 White (Light Polishing) - apply abrasive polishes, chemical polishes, paint cleansers, glazes, waxes, sealants and more. One of the best all around pads on the market and gets fantastic results each time.
 Black (Finishing) - used with chemical polishes, sealants, waxes and most commonly with glazes. Very soft and can evenly distribute the exact right amount of product needed for an amazing gloss and shine.
 Blue (Fine Finishing) - use for applying sealants and waxes. Ultra soft texture delicately and uniformly coats your paint for flawless coverage.

i have 5 light cutting pads, 1 black pad, 1 white pad...that one came with the udm on its own...i just want a perfect finish, but not too sure about the light cutting pads...are the light cutting pads safe enough for me to use with swirl remover or light polishes...or should i use a lighter pad...

You will want to use your orange pad to start with some SSR2.5 or similar compound and see what you get. You may want to make adjustments from there, but from the pics you posted a few weeks ago of your KBP; I doubt you would need anything more serious.

I usually make a practice of starting light and if that doesn't work then step up.

What polishes do you have?

I would go with white and a light polish. 2.5 can be tricky also on soft paint.
For the record, i dont use white for anything but polishes.
