Thumbs down TurtleWax ICE Polish

Anyone try this stuff on their car? I bought a bottle, it smells good, goes on easy but damn, is it a pain to buff out evenly. the only thing i would recommend it for is for plastic trim.

thanks for the link. so ICE is a wax alternative? that stuff is oily and attracts a lot of dust.

It's not a wax alternative, per se, as it is a standalone product. I wouold opt for OCW or Mothers Reflections line. You can check out the Dura Gloss products. All of these are synthetic waxes and available OTC except for OCW.

I reviewed ICE when it came out, TW sent me a sample - I thought it went on easily and came off easily too, even in sun. Actually, I thought it came off too easily - definitely has a *lot* of solvents in it, which would explain the amazingly crappy durabilty. I applied it to 6 cars in total and not one got better than 8 days of slickness/beading.

The problem i had with it was when the sun went down and moisture starts condensating on the paint, you would see a "flower" pattern splotches all over. plus because its oily, it's prone to marks with anything that touches it (i use a car cover). would i do any harm to throw a coat of wax on top of that stuff or do i have to remove it first? TIA.

i recall reading your review, but unfortunately, i could not search for it because the board doesnt allow for three-lettered word searches (ICE).

I don't know too much about the polish, AND I KNOW i'm gettin a little off topic..but i picked the turtle wax ICE quick synthetic spray detailer and i must say I used it on the TL and on one of the fire trucks at my fire dept. (detailing the truck in preparation for a parade) and well the results are like this....The TL looked wet from the moment i put it on and lasted for quite some time, The Fire truck, well i waxed it with Turtle wax Platinum series cleaner wax and on the way up to the parade it got wet from mild rain, I used the ICE quick detailer right before the parade started and well we won a trophy for "best appearing rescue truck"...i heard bad reviews about the polish as well but i think the quick detailer is worth looking into IMO
