Turtle Wax vs NuFinish
So I finally had some time to wash and wax my car over the weekend. Long over due.
I usually use NuFinish.
I had a container of Turtle Wax lying around; container claimed it waxes to a level of "new car shine," so I thought I try it out. Big mistake. After applying a layer of wax, that thing was extremely difficult to buff out. Took me about 2.5 hours easily to hand buff that wax off. An unexpected workout and hurting of the lower back! Kind of wished I had a plugin buffer.
My TL is shiny now, no doubt about it. Next time I'll stick to NuFinish.

You have to try Meguiars Gold Class... then you'll see the difference. I have never had any success with any Turtle Wax product in the past. On black its the worse possible wax you can use. As you mentioned its a workout! Meguiars Gold Class goes on and off easily, but you do need the right tools and buffers to get it right.
For really high-end there is Zaino. But plan an entire day for that stuff because it can get really complicated, too many coats, too much work. Worth it? You bet. The glossy shine is beyond belief.

The hard shell from the Turtle Wax is hard work lol,tbh i would use the Nu Finish over the Turtle Wax if i had no other choice.
However i use the Meguires line and have had excellent results with their Ultimate line of products.

I use the Meguires wax as well. But I do use Nu-Finish on the headlights on my vehicles as it keeps them clean and prevents the headlights from fogging up and getting dull over time.

What "quick and easy" wax products do you guys/gals recommend?
A friend of mine "Zainoed" his new 2013 A6. Looks amazing, but I just don't have the time or the energy. Something easy to apply and easy to buff. NuFinish, arguable not at the same level as Zaino, so far has worked fairly well for me.

I feel your pain. When I was young I waxed my 1966 Plymouth with a can wax my dad had around the house. I put the rag on it to wipe the stuff off, and the rag would not move! i was so frustrated I wanted to get the floor buffer out. Took me 3 hrs to get that stuff off, but I did have a long lasting shine. I've used just about every wax out there during my time. I like nu Finish for spot buffing and I like the way is shines. When I was po, I used it on my ford festiva with excellent results. I have used Zaino, Meguires, and others with excellent results. These days, I have a professional come to the house once a year, and I just use quick detail the rest of the time.

In case you run into the same problem again in the future, find some quick detailer or spray wax and use it along with the towel to remove the wax. Make it easier to get them off the paint surface.

I would never use a turtle wax product it's garbage imo. Nufinish I have no experience with.
I use Poorboy's World Natty's Paste Wax (blue for dark cars). It's a SUPER easy on/off wax and you can easily do an entire car in 1 hour.

You want quik & east use this. I use it on my 66 Mustang. I can clean my car in minutes at car shows. The key is to use those orange microfber towels that I buy at Sams club. Just follow the directions.

easy on/off....meg's products available OTC works well. durability wise it's on the short side.
other stuff: natty's blue liquid nice on dark cars...decent durability, collinite 845...VERY easy on and off and so far the durability is really good.
i've heard good things about the blackfire line for dark cars as well.
do the wax on wax off thing 2-3 times a yr. then do an in between after washes (spray wax-meg's, optimum etc). depends on how much work you want ot put into it. the touch up wax in between is maybe an extra 5-10 minutes after a nice bath.

Meguiar's Gold Class is what I use and it does a great job. Easy on and off... Doesn't last as long as I'd like, but I wax enough that it doesn't bother me.

Seeing the picture of your car surrounded by snow, you should take a look at collinite products. Either the paste or insulator wax work and both are easy to use and are extremely durable. This product is highly recommended for the winter protection. You can use it for summer weather as well, with a top coat of carnauba wax for the extra shine.
Also, don't be misguided by products that are used on a new car. Their car's paint is in brand new condition, hence the shine. You should be looking for polishes if you want that new car shine. Waxes serve only as a sealant and amplifier of your car's current paint condition (marred/swirled paint won't benefit as much, in terms of depth, from a carnauba wax).

Closest thing to an easy "Zaino" is Klasse. It was absolutely amazing on my '02 TL-S in the 4 years I used it. Just applied it to my '12 TL-Tech (BWP) and it looks absolutely fantastic.

Nothing wrong with Nufinish ... its a good "old School " sealant ... not as good as some of the stuff out today but still good.
The "boutique" stuff I can't be bothered with .. not worth the money .. they might look good but seldom last..
Zaino and Klasse are both top knotch ... but if you want something thats easy .. quick and looks great with better than average life look at Meguiars #21 or Duragloss #105.
As with anything .. its all in the prep.

The zaino bros stuff is outstanding if you go through every stage. When I traded in my 00 S2000 in 2011, they thought it was a new car.
If you're slummin, the Zymol "smurf goo" puts a nice luster on with easy application and removal, but it doesn't coat for very long.
I've been using the turtle wax "black box" 2 stage on my 09, since it's about $80 cheaper than the Zaino, and I gotta say I'm pretty happy with the results.
I'd put the gold glass meguirs in the same class with a zipwax or a turtle wax liquid, and maybe the zymol a notch above it in terms of shine and application.
Get yourself a random orbital and a few dozen applicator and terrycloth bonnets, and some poly lint-free towels to do the jobs right.

^^^I kinda agree, but honestly, if I was do to it over, I would have NOT gone as crazy OCD and tried to correct. I started 2 years ago and now have a porter cable random, a makita full rotary and a slew of products.
For newbs that don't have very badly marred or swirled paint, I'd highly recommend you ask yourself how anal you want to get with your car, because it can get bad (time, stress of scratching and MONEY!!) so be warned if you go in too deep.
If you're just starting off, I found a lot of the Zaino products didn't matter in comparison to the Z2. Z5 didn't do much, ZPC definitely didn't do much. Get 2, 5 gallon buckets, some grit guards, the right towels for wiping off and drying the car and read up and practice the proper washing technique. Then some Zaino Z2 and call it a day. It does just bond to the paint and hide things, but every application builds on the last one. I still get "that CAN'T be a 9 year old car".
I have corrected, but I've scaled my analness back for the last year and picture is of most recent zaino application:

Well, I got so crazy after I did correct that I'd friggin be worried about every little thing and then realized that with Honda's soft paint, it was nearly impossible to keep her swirl free!
In which case, I somewhat admitted defeat and just decided that I'd live with keeping it clean as carefully as possible and keep "hiding" the remaining imperfections with polymers.

Lots of good choices and recommendations. I just did my car this past weekend (as well long overdue) with some Turtle Wax my daughter had bought. While I wouldn't buy it myself (usually use Macguiers but the TW was handy) I found that it was easier to remove if I didn't let it dry all the way to a "haze" and the protection and shine seemed to have suffered no ill effects. It may be beside the point at this junction but it worked for me.

I agree w rockstar, i started using Zaino in the spring on my MBM 09 i just got cpo. It has minor scratches/swirls so i tried Zaino. The 1st appliction may b PIA but subsequent apps are much easier than some of you describe. I use z6 spray in between waxes. Nobody beleives its an 09'. And each product is less than $20. Dont knw why some r saying its expensive. If you only want to spend $20 buy Z2 or z5. Well worth it. Im OCD w my car.

Turtle gets a bad rep, but for the $ and as a short term wax, I use it. There is nothing wrong with turtle, it won't eat your paint. I use their dry n wax product as a in between wax product and it's pretty darn good.

the klasse twins...autogeek has a nice how to on application of the klasse twins. klasse has been around a long time. i use the klasse twins in my detailing. it is quite durable when used in conjuction with a wax/sealant topper as a LSP.
neither product is spray and wipe. if you are looking for durability you will not find them in spray and wipe products. spray and wipe products are good for in between touch ups after washes and major details to keep the car looking good and protected.
autogeek and a few other detailing sites have a ton of info...it's all about trial and error along with your personal preference of simplicity, price point, and what you want the car to look like (aside from shiny).
