The Trick to Salt-Free Carpets

Anyone living in the snow-belt where lots of salt is being used might want to try my method for Salt-Free carpets.
This beats spending time cleaning them every spring. All this is needed is a light vacuuming.
The 2017 Acura RDX gets the same and the factory carpets still look new.

All those mats (Pants Saver, WeatherTech, etc) are all very nice and I use them, but they have their own issues.

I am not at all impressed with the WeatherTech knock off mats that I got with my 2020 RDX. They basically have no front lip on them and everything just runs off the front of the mat up by your gas pedal. I did not realize until halfway through the winter how stupid they were except I'm sure they are made that way to keep the lawyers happy as far as gas pedal and Brake interference goes. Definitely going to have to figure out an under liner for this year.

Vinegar

For cleaning salt debris after the winter months I use a solution of vinegar and water with a sponge for removal. I do have front WeatherTech mats. No problem snow issues yet.

My RDX going into its 5th winter. The carpets still haven't been shampooed and still look like day-one.

I do the same, just ease into the dilution ratio to avoid a lingering vinegar smell

I don't worry about using any cleaning process, simply because they never get any salt stains or get dirty.
