Cleaning All-Weather Mats

I got the all weather mats because carpet is nearly impossible to keep clean in my opinion. Even if you clean the surface, funk builds up over time and stale musty odors set in. I figured the all season rubber mats might be better. Generally they are, but I have found that my rubber soled shoes tend to leave dark scuff marks that do not readily come off. I have tried several products thus far, the most effective of which has been comet with LOTS of scrubbing but even that left quite a few smudges. Has anyone found a quicker, easier, or better method?

On the TL I throw them on the ground and hose them down, soap isn't necessary.

The factory mats from Acura are crap and generally wear out very quick, the all weather mats fit nicely and keep our carpet perfect(again on the TL). They WILL be purchased with our RDX.
