Actual Release Date?

Anyone know when we will actually see these bad boys at the dealerships...we looking at?

April 2006 as 07 model
or
Fall 2005 as 06 model
or
Fall 2006 as 07 model

I would believe they will do the something similiar to the TSX, but who knows.

Honda and Acura have a lot of new models to release in the next 36 months.

Ridgeline is available Spring 2005.
I believe the Civic and Pilot get released Fall 2005. (Not sure about the MDX???)
I hope for the RDX to be released Spring 2006 as a 2007.
CRV should follow in the Fall of 2006 as a 2007.

Anybody hear if they will redesign the Element on the new CRV platform or let it die out, sales seem to be slumping and HMC has a special offer for 2004s still on the lots.

Is the 06 Pilot all new? If so a new MDX should be right behind.....

I understood it was just getting VCM like the Ody?

Sorry about that, didn't mean to imply more. At most it will be a mid-model refreshing and it was stated in Detroit that the Pilot will get VCM. Nothing was mentioned about the MDX.

.......it will be released in the EARLY (more likely) to MID (spring or summer) 2006 as a '07 model. The reason being: The press release from the Detroit International Auto show (at acuranews.com) CLEARLY states that it will go on sale in 2006. I also read at another place that it will debut in calendar year 2006.

While the above stated date could also mean that it is possible to be out in the fall of 2006 as an '07 model, it seems very unlikely to me that they would release so much specific info about the vehicle, almost 2 years ahead of time!!

yep... March/April 06.

Acura almost always sells new models in spring, and redesigns in Fall. 06 is the official word... so around this time next year... just after the NY Auto Show is my bet.

Soopa is on the money (and anyone else who said spring 2006). The Pilot will get a midlife update this fall (much like the MDX did for 04,) and the MDX will be redesigned for fall 2006.

We will also be getting a new EL in Canada this fall.

No, since there's not much Civic info out either. When the Civic info is out, expect the EL info to follow.

Although I'm not entirely certain Acura Canada will bring it back?

ya, I've always had an issue with the need for the EL. No other high end car manufacturer does this in North America (Lexus / Infiniti / Volvo / Saab / Audi / BMW / MB etc). I'd be curious to see what proportion of Acura's sales is accounted for by the EL. Besides the leather seats, why wouldn't a person just buy a Civic or a Corolla with leather for less $$? I know the argument that Acura makes ..."we need an entry lux vehicle to get the young buyers into the Acura family and onto bigger more expensive Acuras when it comes time to upgrade" - but does this actually happen, or are the majority of buyers always gonna cross-shop within the compact segment?

First, I don't even know how you can get a Civic or Corrola with manufacturer-built leather option. Of course it can always be done after-market but that's a different story.
Secondly, the EL offers more than just leather seats. Its interior is much nicer.

I'm 99% sure that the EL will be returning, and from I hear, there will be greater differentiation between it and the Civic this time around. Of course, this could have changed by now.

While you may not agree with Acura selling the EL, consider that Civic class cars are the best selling in Canada, not Accord class. The EL gives Acura an excellent base for people to start with, especially as Canadians tend to not want to spend as much (witness that the BMW 320 is still available here.) I fully expect the next EL to start around $27 and go to $34.

For leather - the Civic no, but a Corolla yes (its a package on the LE $24,800)

that better be true. the 1.7EL just looks too much like a civic. was it based on the domani like the 1.6EL? if not, that might be why they look so similar.

Generaly, Acura does not release their vehicles until the fall, september or october, so I would assume the rdx would be realeased in the same manner.

I've heard from people at the plant that the RDX will be coming out late spring of 2006.

Like the TSX or the '03 CL? I'd say we have just as good a shot to see it in the spring as we do in the fall.

Acura have said that it will release in early 2006, so, much like the TSX, it will probably be on the road in the April/May/June time frame.

ouch. That just made me not interested. Yeah I really need to spend $35K on a small luxury suv, brother to the CRV...your kidding right?... I mean the MDX right now starts at about $36-37...yeah I know the new one is going to come out and they will price it more...blah, blah, blah... Still telling people oh here is a new SUV which will replace the MDX in pricing but will be a smaller, less powerfull...etc...makes no sense. The RDX needs to be priced at about the same price as the starting BMW X3 which is about $30-31.
Heck even the Lexus RX330 starts in the $36 range. Yeah, yeah don't need to hear how that does not compare to how the RDX will have more options. It is all about perceived value and unless they change what I thought the RDX would be, I ain't interested. Now if it is a $35K hybrid sporty luxury SUV now that works and they could not keep them in stock.

Sorry for the lengthy diatribe.

Lightbulb ACTUALLY, I like that pricing strategy....

....WHY?? you ask....Because it will pretty much boil down to the same thing as pricing it in the low 30s. Let me explain: If it is priced in the low 30s, then it will sell for MSRP for quite a while and it is the friggin SLIMEBALL dealer who will benefit from it!!! ....OTOH, if it is priced in the mid 30s then there will be big discounts after the first few months (after the raging Acuraphiles have finished buying - mind you, I'm an Acuraphile too, but I consider myself at least marginally smart). So the "NET EFFECTIVE PRICE" will be in the low 30s no matter what.

FYI, just look at the RL. Just after a few short months after introduction it's selling BELOW invoice.....I'm sooooo tickled about this. The funny thing is, Acura (THE COMPANY) is not affected by this in any way shape or form. It's the SOB DEALERSHIP that's been r*ped over the coals ....and I'm lovin every waking moment of this!!! ....It's richly deserved PAYBACK time for all the BS pulled on us CUSTOMERS when they royally screwed us over with things like "forced options" and "over-MSRP-slimeball-practices" for the first 3 years the MDX was in the market, just because THEY COULD due to the demand/supply situation!!!!

Delayed Release Data?

My local dealer says the December dealer showing has been postponed and the release date will be Fall of 06 and not Spring.

Has anyone else heard this?

I doubt it. First, because it seems like it will probably be too big for the size of vehicle...especially when we've heard rumors of a turbo 4. Also, the 3.5L from the MDX is a few years old now...I doubt Acura would put an engine that old into their edgy new SUV.

I don't think Acura will over do it with power, they tune their vehicles just right for pwer and fuel efficiency. The MDX is going to get a more powerful motor for the gen 2 MDX. RDX should get it's own motor, the forced induction 4 banger.
