Tree Sap Removal

When washing the TL today all the horizontal surfaces were not smooth and felt a little like the surface of sandpaper. Since I had waxed with NXT three weeks ago I could not understand why the surface was so rough. All I could figure out was last week at work a tree service was removing pine and cedar trees and chipping them. One night I do remember that there was a wood dust on the car and it had rained. So I believe that the wood dust from the freshly chipped trees deposited a film of sap on the car.

So my question is, what is the best way to remove this. I have some Turtle Wax Bug, Tar and Sap remover, Micro Fiber towels and NXT in the garage. Should this be ok to use?

I need to do this tonight since it is going to snow this evening.

I'd go with clay or goo gone before using tar and sap removers. Tar and sap removers are usually more aggressive.

Try Skin-So-Soft by Avon. It's great for removing fresh sap. It's very gentle on the paint too. If that doesn't work, use the clay bar.

Clay bar is probably the way to go. If you have to use a general adhesive cleaner make sure to go over it with water or soap to kill the aggresive properties in the cleaner.

Agree with the others to use a fine clay to remove the sap and contaminants from your paint. See the sticky on that.

If you stil need to use the tar and bug remover, do not let it dry on your paint and follow directions on the bottle.

Either method, you will need to polish and re-wax afterwards. Good luck.
