Touch Up Paint - Ay suggestions?

I bought a touch up paint from the dealer (the one that looks like a big pen, but I can also use the brush on the other side).

Is this recommended to cover a big scratch to prevent rust?

I am planning to:
1. clean the surface
2. use the brush for a thin coat
3. let dry and repeat, till scratch is gone
4. wait 24 hours to apply clear coat for protection

Do I need to do anything else here guys?

Thanks.

Some pictures would be helpful. What color is your car? How big/Long is the scratch?

i was goin 2 do this also. but my plain is abit diff. I would do the same thing as u mention, but instead of putin the clear coat on, i would put more touch up paint to full fill the sport, then i would use 1500 sand paper and wet sand it to look better, then buff it. After that, i would spray some clear coat then buff it again for nice shiny looking.

You'll find if you spot spray clear on it you'll never get it to blend or feather out.
