Throw Up!

Someone threw up in my car last night! For those of you who don't know me, I'm have OCD. Dust on my car makes me nervous. How do you think I feel about risotto chunks in the perforations of my perforated leather? Any ideas of how to get those out and the smell out? I feel worthless today. I'm at work and I don't want to be here.

I have to assume they would have better stuff. (Jerry tried a detailer to get rid of the BO). Maybe shampoo the carpets as well?

They have to shampoo everything and they have a special enzyme based cleaner that will remove the smell from the leather.

A buddy of mine had the same thing happen in his V70R when he volunteered to pick up some drunk people from a party. He had it professionally cleaned (took about 8 hours) and it was good as new. Expect to pay a pretty penny though.

It's stories like this that remind me why I like a cloth interior.

Unfortunately not. I'm sure most local carwashes will be able to handle it. You might even be able to look for a professional detailer who can do the interiors as well.

You could try...I don't know about the enzyme cleaner, but the shampoo should be easy enough.

You always could, but a professional detailer might also have some tools like an extractor that he can use to get deep into the carpet/leather. If you do it yourself, there's a small risk that you might do something wrong. A pro would have done this many times before.

The question I would ask myself is, am I totally comfortable with doing something like this myself to save a few bucks for the sake of my car's interior, which I want to keep as perfect as possible?

I dropped my friend off to pick up his Volvo after he had it cleaned and we were chatting with the guy who did the interior detailing. He said that for cases like this, they have this enzyme-based cleaner that attacks the things that cause the smell and eliminate them.

I feel your pain. My gf did this to me a while back. I nearly broke up with her....

Luckily, she got most of it on my all season mats (best hundred bucks I ever spent), and not on the leather. The spillage, I cleaned up with lots and lots and LOTS of Resolve carpet cleaner. After the smell of carpet cleaner wore off (that took a long time) and a couple Lexol/Vinylex sessions, it went back to smelling like new. People have complimented me on my new-car smell after this has happened. Whenever they say it, I say to myself: "if you only knew..."

Not sure. I have "quartz" interior, so the carpet is gray.... It's not discolored, though.

I think it was probably one of those moments of intense anger things when you consider doing things you would never do in a normal state of mind.

I think leather is easier to clean for these things, but its the perforations that make it a nightmare.

That's exactly my point - a pre-treated fabric will clean up faily well and you have no perforations to worry about.

It happed in the rear seat ? damn...sorry to hear that.
But I was talking about just the seat covet....not the whole seat.
So off with the seat cover, clean the hell out of it (the seat), put new seat cover back on.
Clean the hell out of the old seat cover and eBay it or keep it for the next

That's a lot of trouble and will likely end up costing more. Having a good detailer clean the car will give equally effective results without all the hassle.

How much did she ?

I'd try the enzyme thing first, it should be done by a professional, unless you know how to treat leather.

Worst case scenario would be to get the seats re-upholstered.

If you got the leather seats wet/damp from trying to clean it, time will be needed to let it dry and it will smell until it is dry. Maybe you should get something to neutralize the air, until it dries.
