Taking off sprayed headlight tint
I'm not sure if this is in the right spot or not. Anyways, my cousin purchased an '04 Nissan Maxima last summer, but there is a big problem with the headlights. The guy that owned the car before spray tinted the front lenses. Has anyone experienced situations like this, and how to go about getting it off? I'm thinking of just wet sanding it with 320-2500 grit paper? Then I have to worry about buffing it back to a clear finish (suggestions on what to use to buff) then sealing it (any suggestions what to use to UV protect). If anyone has any suggestions for me, please let me know. I'll be doing this the right way if I can get the lenses back to the original shape. I'll be painting them black then installing the ZKW-r clear lenses. Thanks for the help!
first try using 3m adhesive remover it shouldnt hurt platic lenses like paint thiner would it works. it will save you from wetsanding them. you probably will have to polish them after anyway but not as agressivly then if you wetsanded them. if 3m stuff doesnt work then you will have to wetsand them. always use least agressive means and then go more aggressive when needed.
i seen local guy who had his tails tinted black and i seen them hazy later on, im asuming he went for inspection and had to remove the tint
