Swirl Scratches on Window's Black Panel
Swirl Scratches on Window's Black Panel
Hi guys. I've come across another question on my mind lately.
I don't know whats the correct term to call these Black Panels on your Car Doors. But I've been wanting to know is there a way of getting rid of these Swirl Scratches? I know you can use rubbing compound for swirl scratches on your car paint. But I'm not sure what you would use on these Plastic Black Panels?

Here is how it looks like. Pretty common on most cars. Its quite visible now since spring is here with the sun and all.

*Ignore the crappy tint applied from the previous owner and the rain dirt spots lol*
Any help is appreciated! Thanks AcuraZine!

When you use a vinyl product instead of a wax, you will likely see the old wax being removed, as a black stain on your application cloth.
First try ArmorAll Original, vertical application, with an old T-shirt (100% cotton) or very soft cotton terry cloth. Heavy application, allow to dry for at least 1-hour. Repeat twice more - then wipe off all access, but do not press too hard to avoid adding more scratches. Wipe off with clean dry soft cloth.
ArmorAll is recommended because it contains only a silicone compound and water. But all excess must be removed, or the first time it rains, excess will wash off and run down the door.
Its difficult to determine from your picture, just how bad are the scratches, but you may also want to try using BACK-TO-BLACK. But this does contain some wax. Apply moderate-to-heavy, let it sit 15 minutes, then firmly wipe away excess, or again, it will wash off. The wax/ polymers will help to fill shallow scratches.
The current Turtle-Wax "black" product also works well, but I forget the name - I can only remember the discontinued product (Black Chrome), which was the best product of the past 20 years. It must have contained some really bad environmental chem?

Ill get some pictures up later but on my old R I did the black trim on the door and got some great results. I used a orange lake country pad with menzerna 4000. But for getting out scratches order one of the kits off detailed image.
