Swirl removal

I need help in choosing which product I should get for swirl removal.

"3M Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Paints" or "Meguiar’s No. 9 Swirl Remover"

Or if you can recommend another product.

check the lower part of this thread, it was on the first page of threads in the Wash and Wax forum, Orange Cream and I had a little back and forth conversation about swirl and scratch removal.

And if I had to choose between the two brands you reccomended I would say go with Meguiars DACP #83, it works wonders, it has slight abrasives (don't get scared with that word, it's not sand) in it. The abrasives actually break down from a cleaner into a polish and parctically polish clean (when done right, too much product will not polish clean).

I also have some swirls on brand new NBP TL

Hi .. I also have some minor swirls on the hood of my brand new NBP TL.

Here is what I was considering doing .... 3M SMR, Klasse AIO, and then SG.

I am doing this all by hand. I have used AIO/SG before on my wife's silver Odyssey, but have not had any experience with any SMR. I had read that the 3M SMR is a decent choice when applying by hand. I was also considering Meguiar's SMR (#9 I think).

Any comments/suggestions/techniques are appreciated. Thanks.

Is Meguiars Scratch X more of a polish or compound?

It's seems to be more of a paint cleaner than polisher, not a compound.

I wouldnt hesitate with 3M SMR, or even Megs #80. Theres no way your going to do any good with 83, too much work by hand, chances are you wont get the diminishing polish abrasives to break down enough anyway......

Good point, sometimes I forget everyone doesn't have a porter cable. lol . Poorboy's World makes a great line of sirl removers, from heaviest to lightest #3, #2.5, #2 and #1. These swirl removers work great when applied by machine or hand.

Nah, its a mild abrasive, doubt you could do any damage by hand.....They make it for dark or light colors also.....
