Static Charge Buildup On Finish
Static Charge Buildup On Finish
I saw a short segment on TV about static electricity buildup. One part of that was mentioned was since the car was not really "grounded" (the only contact to the ground was the 4 contact patches of the tires), the surface charge could buildup especially when humidity is low. Simply drying after the wash apparently re-introduces a negative charge and makes the car a "dust magnet". A thought came to mind that perhaps using the PC at these conditions could increase static buildup too.
My curiosities are these:
-If the static charge builds up, will it affect product application/ bonding?
-Is there such a thing as a "grounding device" (like ones used in computer equipment) that discharges static safely while we detail the car?
-Are there products made specifically for removing/ decreasing static?

Yes, static can be a pain. Ever do a Porsches fron headlights and bumper? You can hear the charge created by little popping noises.....I would think you could clip a rubber strip anyhere on the cars frame and dissipate it.......
