Spring Details, Pictures Inside...56K, get Vtec

Hey guys,

Just thought I would post some pictures of some of my details this week and weekend, first off was my Mother’s 2004 MDX with just about 120K on the clock, and second was the detail from this weekend, a buddy’s 2004 Infinity G35 Sedan with roughly 98K on the clock. For both details I used optimum series polish’s and compounds in conjunction with four star UPP, enjoy;

After; Optimum Compound, Polish + Four Star UPP

G35, one pass with Optimum Compound

After; Optimum Compound, Polish + Four Star UPP

Nice turnaround on the Infiniti. The MDX looks good, too.

So true, black is like having a part-time job, I find keeping it clean is easier these days thanks to the CA duster, and I have been procrastinating on those Christmas lights.

on your 50/50 shot did you make another pass with OC? I would have def made another pass with the compound or gone with a more aggressive pad.

With the MDX, I found it difficult to remove scratch and swirl marks, even after hitting each panel with two coats of Optimum Compound the scratch marks were still there, is there any pad I can use that possesses stronger cutting power then the orange excel cutting pad?

...as for the g35 I did decide to go over with a second coat of Optimum Compound before finishing.

Yellow pad has a stronger cut than orange. Give that a try.

The MDX looks good.

Yeah go with a yellow pad! like Excel said you did a nice job but with that said I am trying to help you make it better . I have optimum compound and like Menzerna Power Gloss alittle better. It has more cut and does not leave the oily residue that OC does. However on the down side It does dust quite a bit and OC does not. I like having both in my arsenal. Also Super Intensive polish and Nano Polish by Menzerna are designed for super hard clearcoats which prob would have helped you clean up that MDX. Just trying to help you out.

Thanks Conan, I really appreciate the tips, I’ll have to order some Nano Polish by Menzerna and a yellow cutting pad.
