Spray On Wax

I know those Spray on Wax Doesnt really give it the same touch. I work about 60 hrs a week so that makes me have limited time to baby my TL. I was thinking about buying the Spray on Wax where you basically Spray on and Wipe Off. What is everyones Opinon on it? Is it even worth my time doing it or No?
If so, What kind does everybody recommend?

Thanks in advance for any Feedback.

The only Spray Wax worth its money is made by Optimum. Eagle One Wax as You Dry is a good in between quick detailer, but doesnt really earn a "spray wax" title.....The Optimum product is excellent.

I second the opinion of Eagle One Wax As You Dry. I usually don't have much time to do complete details. I comprimise by washing the car myself and using WAUD. Not only does it give a pretty good look, but it makes drying much easier.

I used to use the meguiars spray wax, its not a very easy spray wax, you kinda have to rub it off, but you can wax the whole car within 40 minutes.

I've been using Sonus Carnauba Spritz for a while now. Love this stuff, and I prefer it over Z6, which even when cut with distilled water, seems "sticky" to me. Sonus wipes off nice and smooth...great QD'er...

Optimum spray wax is the only way to go, as already noted.

Do the whole car in 10 minutes, has no cleaners so it won't leave any white residue behind, lasts for months because it is a polymer with carnauba setting to the top for beading abilities and also carnauba warmth in the looks department.

And the only spray wax with UV absorbers

A spray wax carnauba that lasts for "months"?

Its was very well researched and formulated product. I know its hard to believe, whats even harder is the second day after you have used it, the surface is NOTICEABLY slicker.....I just used it on a GS 430, Pearl White, and when I went back the second day to do the interior, I was totally amazed (again) at how slick it had became.

After washing, polishing, and applying NXT my arms felt like they wanted to fall off. Would the Optimum Spray Wax be a good carnuba topper after NXT?

Well, thats fine, but the claim that it will last for "Months" seems a bit absurd to me. Its hard enough getting a month out of a paste/liquid wax as it is...

OCW is a polymer sealant that bonds (cross links) on the paint so if you wish to use it on or over the NXT then wait at least 24 hours after the NXT application.

In others experience the OCW has outlasted NXT, I can't comment on that as I never use NXT.

OCW also has a carnauba wax in it but it sets up on top of the polymer and gives a nice wet look plus causes water to bead making drying much easier.

OCW works best with another carnauba IF OCW is laid down first and then 24 hours later apply a paste wax on top. If you lay down another polymer sealant first, then make sure you wait 24 hours before topping it with OCW.

It is the polymers cross linking on the paint that causes OCW to have such great longevity. I get anywhere from 2 to 31/2 months on my regular clients. Garage queens can get around 5 to 6 months. One guy from Autopia said he got 8 months protection out of OCW (applied twice) on his mothers mini van.

I've got a question in regards to the Sonus Carnauba Spritz... So if i'm understanding you guys correctly, this can be used in place of an actual "wax" correct? And if so, when would you apply the Sonus Carnauba Spritz, after you wash and dry?

I guess it could be since it has Carnauba in it. But I personally wouldnt do that. I just use it after my weekly washings as I'm drying it off.

Thats exactly what its intended for. Its mearly meant to provide additional protection of what is already protecting. Its not a substitute for.

So when you say as you're drying off what do you mean? I'm not understanding that. So after i rinse off my car, start to use the Sonus Carnauba Spritz and then wipe off with a MF towel?

You can either dry with a waffle weave, and then apply the spritz, and wipe with a microfiber....or, spritz while wet, and dry with a waffle weave, buff with a microfiber.....There both acceptable ways....
Eagle One is designed to be used as a QD or a wax preservative type product....The point is their all water based and can be used with water! Good luck, and let us know how it works best for you....

Yea, what I do is after I give it a rinse, I grab the leaf blower and get all the excess water off and out of the cracks, door handles, etc. This is optional of course, but it helps with drying. Then, I grab my large waffle weave MF towel and the spritz and spray a light mist on the area im going to dry. Turn the towel over a few times and wipe till its dry...

For something similar to the OSW, try their new formulated QW+ formelrly QD+

Patrick, damn. What else can I say? BTW, what did you use? And did you get the chance to use UPPS? Waiting for your review.

Haw, thats my friend is SSR 2, and Four Star UPPS................I actually started with Optimum but went to SSR......Again, real impressed with the UPPS.....Its a little different then the OSW, as it does not contain Carnaubas......

Wow great job Patrick.

SSR 2.5 followed by AIO, and then a few coats of UPP, and my car looked like it was fresh out of the paint booth.

Was just about to pick up some OCW, but when I saw the UPPS, I held off waiting for some reviews. Hope its just as good.

The UPPS isnt like the OCW. Its not as smooth going on, but it clears itself out faster and quicker then the OCW. I think this is due to its lack of Nubas....On another note, from Four Star themselves, they have found the current version, not VOC compliant for the C.A.R.B. (Cal Air Resource Board) So, with that said, there still a couple/few weeks away from the west coast version. Hang in there guys, its coming!
P.S. I asked if it would alter the performance of the product at all, and was told it may even be better then the original....

From what I've been reading, OSW had some amazing durability (lasts around 3 months). What kind of durability can we expect from UPPS?

Im probably more critical then most, but I dont see why you couldnt expect 8 weeks from the UPPS. Im a little skeptical about 3 months with OCW, even though the label says "Can last up to 5 months". Shoot, Im a skeptical about 3 months with UPP !

Hell 8 weeks is more than I'd need. I could toss some on after every wash, and QD just to keep my UPP layer in tip top shape. Hows the slickness compared to UPP itself?

Based on those shots of the TL, Im about ready to order some. Finish just looks

That sounds great. I was going to get some OCW based on my earlier research but now I think I'm going to go with UPPS. I've been pretty happy with NXT but that picture just looks amazing.

Dont forget, there was a lot of prep in that, so you cant give all the credit to UPPS. And Opt Wax is still a good choice to go with, either choice would be great!

Without reading this entire thread, I love the Eagle One "Wax as You Dry". I think it's great for giving you that freshly waxed look inbetween wax jobs. No, it doesn't really hang around long, but you can definitely tell a diference when you don't use it.

I was looking at Optimum for the winter. The only thing is that top of the line states "Do not apply Optimum on surface temperatures below 55 F, or greater than 90 F". Since it's already colder than that here in Chicago, what else works?

Application Technique

What is the proper application technique for spray wax (Optimum Spray Wax specifically)? Thus far I've only used liquid wax and applicator. Here's some things I'd like to know:
How much do you spray on?
Does the surface need to be dry or can you do it right after rinse?
Do I need to worry about overspray onto black plastic trim, chrome, or windows?
Does it need curing time before removal?
