Smudges, holograms after waxing

So I waxed my car yesterday morning to prepare my TSX for the snow. I park it under the sunlight later in the afternoon and realize these smudges/holograms are all over the side door. Is this due to excess wax? Will it damage the paint if I leave it?Thanks in advance.

Pictures would be good.
If you never had it detailed before, chances are you laid the wax on too thick, and it smeared all over your paint.
If you had it detailed before, those are definitely holograms from a rotary combined with too strong of a polish/pad.

Yup, I have overwaxed before. It doesn't look good but generally no harm. It smears then hardens and looks crappy. At least it is overwaxed rather than under. You can leave and clean up in warmer weather if the looks aren't an issue.

Your next wash should help clear things up somewhat....

Been there...Done that. After letting the wax/sealant sit for a few hours I always follow up with a Quick Detailer. Having a good light like the Brinkmann Dual Xenon flashlight will help find all the problem areas before you find out the ugly truth.

couple reasons. either you didnt let wax cured (or didnt follow directions on jar). put too much on and didnt wipe off completely

^^^hmmm, good question. I'd wonder that too?

I would think that if he "overwaxed" then, it was done to the whole car and not just that one door? or are all the smudges all over?

you may have just used too much product...when you use too much, its really hard to remove it...take you finger and drag it through the panel and see if you can see your finger trail...if soo, that is too much product...when waxing or sealing, less is more...

It's a brand new TSX. I did get a little careless at the end I cant lie lol. I think i used a bit more than I should on one side of the car. Thanks for all the replies! As long as it doesn't bite or kill the paint throughout time I'm fine. Its shoddy outside anyways so its barely visible unless under direct sunlight. But it does go away in time right? Or should I give it a wash with Dawn to strip it? Thanks!

Don't mess with it till the weather is better. Then just rewax the panel using a light film not globbed on.
