Simoniz System 5
With new TL I was offered Simoniz System 5 (Advance Paint Process with TEFLON, Protects & Warranties Itnerior & Exterior for up to 5 years). They sell it for $369 and say you won't have to wax your car at all.
Is anyone familiar with this beast ? Is it any good ? Worth the money ? With my free time I don't think I will have a chance to wax it and detail it much, so if there is something that will keep it look at least semi decent. maybe it's worth considering.
What do you think ?
Thanks !

Diver, do a quick search, it's mentioned in a couple different threads. Here is one of the threads that will be most helpful to you. My advice, take a pass on it. I was offered the same and turned it down.

When I bought my first new car in 1978, it had "Polyglycoat" on it. Same claims (never wax again...). It turns out that with all or most of these "systems" that you have to periodically reapply a "rejuvenator" or some such mixture. The process is an awful lot like waxing the car. Hmmmm. I've never seen any evidence that any of these forever-waxes are any better than what you can buy in the store and apply yourself. Additional dealer profit is what these are about.

we ended up taking it because we got it at cost on my girls accord. A few months ago a bird left a nice stain on the hood, i've tried forever to rid it. I couldn't. Dealer is repainting the hood for us because of the program. We also liked it because she stained her old CL's seats pretty bad and she was worried it may happen again.
I'm still kind of split 50/50 if I'd do it again.
Their coatings are worthless, it's the warranty on paint and interior stuff you are really concerned w/

Not a Blowhole
3M makes a Show Car Wax with Carnauba and fluropolymers in it - for $15!!!!!! And DuPont, who invented PTFE (the generic name for Teflon, which is a registered TM), now sells a line of waxes with PTFE resins in it - for less than $10!!!!! The PTFE resins are not like the PTFE coatings that are baked on in a clean-room type environment. The resins go on like wax, and come off like wax. Wax on, Wax off! As others have said, they have to be re-plenished like any applied finish, and if you read the fine print of your agreement, you will find you are "linking" yourself to the dealer's detail people for life - something i ould not care to do. Although I like the acrylic "miracle" waxes like Zaino, I have found that a top coat of quality carnauba gives a crystalline shine like nothing else. Some polymers like PTFE and acrylics can cause a slight clouding of the finish in Euro-paint formulas. I have not seen that on the TL, but my TL has a top coat of P21S, which has bee and carnauba waxes in it.

I agree with RR here as you cannot really gain the benefit of PTFE without a high temperature drying process (on the order of hundreds of degrees). In my opinion, you should go without it and apply a detailing fininh on your own without the cost. Most dealers who sell these product lines will try to confuse you with the science.......

THINK WARRANTY FROM BIRD DROPPING, not extra protection
all they do is clay the cars and throw on this "teflon" wax. It's the bird shit warranty and interior stain warranty you are payin for
