Seat Cleaning

I took a group of friends the South Beach over the weekend, and of course it rained as it always does on Labor Day... They got in my car soaking wet... Now I have a bad musk smell comming from the leather seats.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the smell???

I tried a leater cleaner and, regular soap and water... nothing worked.

Thanks,

The Spazzz

For the smell, maybe you can try Auto Febreze or something. I'm not sure if they're ok for leather though.

Unusual with conditioned leather that water would penetrate the hide and soak the fibres, covered leather is usually water 'resistant', if it is in fact the case you'll need to dry them.

I might suspect the mats / carpeting to produce a musty (damp) smell

Thanks guys... I have all the windows open. Hopefully this will "dry" everything out. That should do the trick...

Also keep couple of Baking soda open boxes in the cabin for couple of weeks and it will get all the odor out.

I agree with TOGWT....I don't think the smell is coming from the leather. If it is indeed the carpet, and the smell is quite bad, I would go to a place where they offer hot water extraction. The hot water will kill any bacteria that has built up (which is probably causing the smell) and the carpets will be fresh and clean. It can't hurt to do anyway.
