Sap

what's the best way to get sap off my car?

It's sticky and looks like honey (but clear) and there are certain spots on my car that have it.

I tried to clay it but the clay actually sticks to the residue and now I have sap and clay on my car. I found that if I use a QD and a MF towel I can scrub it off but don't want to kill my paint job.

Wont kill your paint job, but it will scratch it, just use some polish and then a sealant and your good to go.

Also Stoner Bug and Tar Remover will take it off too.

And stop parking under trees!!! haha, jp

Hate to say it but a little gasoline on a soft cloth works WELL....just use it sparingly since the shit's so expensive

I was cleaning the Santa Fe a few days ago and found a tree had left a nice present on the roof. It was not a large drop but it was a pain in the ass, no less. I used the clay method to moderate success. I coaxed the rest of it off with my thumbnail. Then I pulled out the buffer and polished out the lines as the sap had already etched into the clear.

I had to run several passes over it with my Griot's buffer. I used a stage 3 polish and minimized the appearance of the etching with three passes. Still, pain in the ass. Took me about 15 minutes to get it all out.
