Rock chips filled w/ wax..help

My hood is beat to hell after 10 years and the rock chips on the car collected the wax when it was rubbed over, since the rock chips are in the paint, when running the buffer over its not capable of getting it out. So now i have white filled rock chips all over my hood and it looks horrible. I plan to get the hood painted eventually but is there anything to do? im assuming washing it will help

Side question: are microfiber towels safe to use on new paint? Thanks.

You'll want to use a solvent or paint cleaner to chemically remove the wax that's in those rock chips.

The right microfiber towels are safe to use on new paint. Of course that depends on how soft/hard your paint may be. Patrick has a lot of safe MFs if you're looking for some.

plain old ISP- rubbing alchol will remove all the wax from an area- its what you use remove wax in order to apply pinstripe!
Then do touch up paint- sand flush- repeat as needed- wax wax wax, with a nice clear drying synthetic

Get a ClearBra made of 6 or 8 mil thick 3M plastic
Wish I had gotten to it last year like I planned- now its lots of touch up.......

none of that stuff will remove old wax from paint chips.... rubbing alcohol as previously stated will do the job...

none of the above products are bad, but there are much better polishes and sealants to be had....and i have used everything you have there....

dawn or other liquid dish washing soap will indeed remove the wax bits, but also ALL the wax in the area being washed

Thats fine if you are getting ready to do a full area/panel buffing with cleaners -polish and final wax,
otherwise for minor area spot cleaning or repairs, stick to the rubbing al---
to limit the area being treated

Prep-Sol or Final Klean from DuPont will work too. They're designed to strip:

wax, grease, silicone, dirt, tar, insect remnants, road film and pin stripe adhesives.
