Road Paint

This is my first post and I have to tell you all the sad story and ask for help for my baby.

A couple of weeks ago they were doing road construction and I drove past a road stripe painter truck and I noticed this weekend that I have all of these little white specks all over my red baby. :swear2:

All I have used on the car is McGuire’s car wax. I want to try to get it off and learn how to protect my baby the best way I can.

Please help. Any advice I can get I really appreciate it. Thank you all.

That happened to me earlier this year.

I was able to notice it right away and wash it all off, but there was a lot of paint spray in my wheel well. I had to spray black rubber compund (basically black spray paint but rubber based) inside the wheel well to cover it all up.

you can pick it up at like autozone or hell even walmart, in the detailing section.

its just that, a bar of clay, it removes unseen contaminants from the paint and removes things like.. overspray.

just follow the directions.

worked great on my car to remove overspray

Is there any company that you use that works the best or are they all the same?

Clay bar will work...but if its bigger specks of paint...watch out. What can happen is the paint specks will get caught in the clay, then while rubbing the clay over the car, you ll be essentially rubbing the car with the paint thats already on the clay, so you run a very high risk of scratching the finish. What you might want to try, but must be very careful with, is a lacquer thinner. Take a VERY LITTLE BIT and put it on a towel. The paint specks should come right out. After doing this, then I would clay, as most of the bigger specks should be gone. You would probably want to get it buffed out afterwards, because more than likely there will be fine/light scratches. And definently apply a coat of wax, as it will be all gone.

I have tried the thinner. It is not desolving the specks. There are no large spots just very fine over spray specks. I will try the clay bar in a small spot, if that doesn't work I guess I will see my local body shop or deal with it. Thanks for the warning.

I know this sounds crazy, but I just used lighter fluid on a rag. It worked fine.

This sucks!!! same damn thing happened to me and I'm fawking pissed.. But I have no idea where this shit came from...no signs or anything...The stuff I ran over was like a tan color...I was walking oout of my office the other day and was looking at my wheels wells and was like "guess I gotta wash her when i get home" because looked like there was dried mud caked in the wells. My car is white, so when I started washing, I kept seeing all of these little tan specs that weren't coming off...after scrubbing and scrubbing using a bug remover pad (that has the net looking things covering the sponge) I finally started to see some results. There are still some specs on the paint, So I'm clay barring the damn car for the 3rd time this year. Shit always seems to happen to me.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread, my point was same thing happened to me, and to use the clay bar.

I have tried the clay bar and it worked well, but it didn't remove all of it. I will try it again. Thanks all.
