Removing UPP ....

.... and other "finishing" products with the UDM/PC (or similar).

I had asked about this elsewhere and the only suggestion I got was to lay a largish MF towel under the UDM/PC for material removal. Tried that, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

Mark Twain once said, "If you want to find the easiest way to do a job, give the job to a lazy man." (or something to that effect).

Well, here's what I did:

You know those MF pads that come with the hook & loop "holder" for hand application? Well I had a couple in the Deatil Box and decided to try using those pads on the UDM/PC to remove the UPP I had applied.

Worked Great!!. 1 pass at lower speed (~3) one at higer speed (~ 4/5). VERY light touch, just letting the pad "float" on the surface.

Anybody with other solutions or concerns with this one?

Pic below show the result. Not bad for a 7-year old WDP TL, huh?

No comments whether this method is good or bad?

Or alternate solutions to product/LSP removal using the polishing machine?

Don't see where it could be bad ... maybe chancing getting a bit of grit under the bonnet ..

When I bought the PC it came with a white pad the actually screwed on to it .. One thing I did try was putting a plush Costco Yello M/F under the pad to remove the LSP.

Still had to remove the LSP by hand around the small areas ..

Figured I can do it as fast or faster by hand .. so never went back to it.

I used to use a MF under a soft pad, sort of what Dale conveyed, but like he said, you still need to address the entire surface by hand. And UPP being what it is, its so dang easy to remove anyway, it almost takes longer doing it with the machine. Its so effortless.
