removing trunk funk
my problem:
probably about a year ago, some rotisserie chicken juice from the market spilled onto my trunk lining, specifically the left (driver's side) fender wall area that covers part of the trunk floor. i attempted to clean it with some carpet cleaner which seemed to remove the stain and smell after i let it air out and dry.
little did i realize that beneath that section of the lining is an actual cushion (i thought it was just hard plastic with the fuzzy stuff on top and nothing else). moisture from the juice and carpet cleaner/water was probably trapped inside, and didn't properly dry (kind like if clothes are not fully dried in a dryer, and you let it sit there for too long, it develops stink if it gets damp or you happen to wear it and sweat in it).
last week or so a piece of snow from my trunk lid slid off and fell right on that patch, got it wet, and basically acted like a catalyst for some horribly smelling funk (think bottom of trash can) that permeated into the cabin area.
i've used some enzyme/alcohol odor removal spray from the local pet store which has helped temporarily until i can find some time to take out the lining and wash it down.
my question is, can that funk embedded in the lining pad be washed out after a year of dormancy (provided there is no mold/mildew)?

it should be able to since it's just cotton or polyester fluff... Be sure to check for mold!!!

it's #16 in the diagram, part # 84651-SEA-003ZA. it's $106 bucks from delray acura, but i haven't shopped around yet to see if it's sold cheaper any where else.
