Removing a scratch, need some advice.

Hey guys,

My buddy just came over with his black Maxima. Anyway's, while we were outside talking, we noticed a ton of surface scratches/swirls when the sun was beading down directly on his car. When the sun wasn't full blown on it, it looked really nice. Anyway's, he has a few light scratches that we want to remove. I have some Meguiar's Scratch X lying around the house. Will that work? Also, is it as easy to use as the bottle says? Just buff it on and then wipe it off? I'm pretty sure it won't harm the paint at all, but I just want to make sure before I screw up his paint, LOL

Thanks guys!

It won't harm it but won't produce a lot of results on black either.

If applied with the wrong applicator or wiped off with the wrong towels you may see more marring than your correcting.

So, I'm assuming that this needs to be corrected by a professional detailer? I think I'll just have him take it to a local very reputable car wash place, and see what they can do for him!

scratch X is good for those small hairline scratches, like from fingernails near the door handles. It is no-where good enough to remove swirls. Buy a proper polish like Four Star Medium Cut Compound or Optimum Compound and use that.

I have the Four Star and it works alright by hand, not quite the results that I get with a PC
