Removing gas smell (from gas station)

Hello all!

Well, tonight while getting gas, I managed to step in some gas near the pump. Anyway, the bottom of my shoes, as well as my rubber mat, carpet and cabin of my car smell of gas. Does anyone know of a good way to remove the gas smell from the matt, carpet, and bottom of my shoes?

Thanks!

Jeff

I am not sure where you are located, but if temperatures are warm enough I would just open all the windows and let it vent out (provided you live in a safe community or enclosed private garage), leave your shoes outside for the night.

it doesn't matter where you live, my point was just if its warm enough (to a certain degree, wouldn't work if you lived in the north pole), just open your windows and let it vent, it should evaporate overnight and you shouldn't smell anything in the morning if the amount of gas is small.

take the mat out and rinse with some water and try to get the water out, let dry. That should remove any gas on the mat causing the scent.

Exact same thing happened to me few months ago. Just have to let it air out, it will go away. Just might take a few days. Oh, and clean your shoes if you havent already!
ps- water and gas wont mix, you'll need some type of soap if you are going to try and clean it.
