A Quickie...

Just thought I'd share a few pics of the detail I did on my car. It was a pretty lazy detail as I only one-stepped the car but it was enough to get pretty much everything but the RIDS. I took a few more pictures than I care to post up and was pretty short on time (I woke up late) so I worked with what time I had.

Process:
  1. Entire vehicle pressure washed with the Karcher
  2. Tires agitated with ARO and Meg's Tire Brush
  3. Wheels cleaned with CG Sticky Wheel Gel Prototype and Swissvax wheel brush and EZ-Detail brush
  4. Foamed with CG CWC and CG Strong Wash
  5. Washed with Mark V Very Cherry soap
  6. Clayed as I washed with Riccardo
  7. One-stepped with 3M UK black polishing pad and Menzerna PO203 Power Finish
  8. Used Swissvax Cleaner Fluid on the right front fender and right side mirro to try it out
  9. Swissvax Saphir applied with red CCS applicator

Before:

Foam:

After:

I probably should have done a more proper write-up but I'm way too lazy (due to school), haha.

super clean Denzil I am a noob to car cleaning what does the Foam do? Does it take the place of like soap?

And i just saw today that they have like the clay in liquid now would you suggest using that or just stick with the clay bar?

The foam acts as a presoak to get rid of any additional surface dirt/grime/bugs/whathaveyou before doing the detailer's two bucket method.

I'm not really a fan of liquid clay (however, I haven't used it myself) and I stick to what works for me in that department.

Thanks, the foam cannon is super fun! Half the point for doing it is presoaking and the other half is for pure amusement! It's win-win, haha.

It's funny when you grab the attention of passerby's when you're foaming it up!

Yeah, I'm sure the other threads will definitely show me up! I just got really with this one due to pressure from school. I want to get out already so I can spend some quality time with my car, hehe.

I have to say though that Saphir was so easy to work with and off. The stuff goes a really long way!

Well, I'll be at the Presidio meet (if everything goes according to plan) and have some ONR samples and MF's to sell out to you guys. I still have some UPP samples to up for grabs since our last meet.

You should feel my paint's surface, it's nasty smooth! It should still be smooth by the Presidio meet.

Oh and I'll work on taking/posting some sun shots to show how well Power Finish worked with my paint.

Looking forward to seeing how the Menzerna Power Finish did on the Acura paint. I think it's one of the best polishes out there to use in 1 step. If I have extra time for a second step with PF, I usually follow up with PO85RD for even more depth and gloss.

Excellent work Denzil, looking sharp!

^ I thought those were just with DIY car wash bays.

I didn't know they sold them as an attachment for garden hoses...!

That was actually the idea George! I was thinking of following up with PO85RD or Ultrafina to jewel the finish that much more but I was a bit short on time to do that and I was happy with what I had, for now. I'll have to go over my car with my PTG to see how much clear I have left to play with.

Thanks for the compliment!

Hehe, they are pretty nice but actually I used a foam cannon. There's a slight difference between a foam gun and a foam cannon. The foam gun I used to use was the Gilmour Foamaster II but have now moved on to the foam cannon from Jose at WaxWorkz.

Now here's the difference... foam guns are attachable to garden hoses and maybe pressure washers (although I haven't tried that myself). The kind of foam you get from foam guns is decent but nowhere near what you can get with a foam cannon. Foam cannons, AFAIK, can only be used in combination with pressure washers. The added pressure and less flow of water contribute to the higher foam concentration that is output from the foam cannon. The one sold at Autogeek is only a foam gun and not a foam cannon.

Thanks! I think it looks better in person as I'm still quite the amateur when it comes to taking pictures with my DSLR.

Haha, well a one-step job which happened to take me 6 hours from beginning to start. I really did skimp on some things (I hate to admit it, LoL) but seeing as I don't get paid for doing my own car, I didn't care too much, haha. Plus I had intentions of going over it again when I find the time if I missed something.

Haha, yeah that shouldn't be a problem! Just keep in mind that it may take a month or two to have your car detailed due to my personal schedule and current bookings. It's just something to keep in mind when you're finally ready to call me.

As promised, here are some pictures of my car. I think my quickie job truly shows as I think there is some faint hologramming left on my car. Keep in mind that Saphir is also on this so it might actually be worse than what it looks like.

I'll have to check it out again in the coming days to verify if this is really the case (which it probably is). I'll probably end up going over it again with Ultrafina to get it looking better without the holos. I have to admit though that Power Finish did pretty well but I just need to solve how to finish down with it as well (by the looks of the pictures). Other than that, I can't really complain for how much time I gave myself.

Anyway, enough of my blabbering, here are the pictures. Enjoy!

As always, comments/suggestions/questions are always welcome. I apologize if the car doesn't look so great, LoL.

Well supposedly Finish Kare sells this anti-static quick detailer named FK425 but I don't really buy it, LoL. I tried some of the stuff and it just seems like every other quick detailer out there.

It's just going to suck since it's pollen season. It's alright though, I'll just have fun with doing maintenance washes every week, hehe.
