Question A Quick Question...

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I've been doing a lot of reading on here and can't find the answer. Is there a difference in the formulation of regular NXT and NXT spray wax? From looking at the bottles in the store they look like the same product, just different delivery, is this right? Am I correct in saying that both have some cleaning agents and are synthetic polymers (sealants)?

To my understanding, NXT Spray Wax is a booster for NXT Tech Wax. The spray wax can be used on a dry surface for spot touch ups or on a wet surface for that just waxed look. It will provide addtional protection and longevity to the existing protection. NXT Tech Wax is basically a sealant. Both formulations are polymer based with different characteristics because of how it's used and it's purpose.

Thanks for your response(s). I guess my primary concern this weekend when I used the spray wax was to provide some additional protection for the existing clear coat on my car, as I DO NOT have a base layer of wax put down. Surely the spray wax must offer some measure of protection as I can see and feel the difference after using it........?

The spray wax is better with a base coat. Its not meant for a last stage protectant. And yes, it does contain a small amount of cleaners as does the NXT paste and Liquid.....

IMO, one of the better products that I've used over the last couple of months is Optimum Car Wax. This product comes highly recommended by several folks like Patrick(exceldetail) and Anthony Orosco. Very easy to use, very slick and longevity of about 8-10 weeks. More info can be found here here. Unfortunately, this is not an OTC item and only available online. Click on the distributor link to find one closest to you.

Thanks for the info. You guys really know your stuff. I plan on getting more involved in April when the salt is off the roads. That spray wax looks pretty good...

I know this one has been done to death already, but I remain confused as to just what is in a couple of these products and I'm beginning to think that the manufacturers want it that way to sell more items. The link that Hawyen51 gave about the NXT spray wax and NXT tech wax mentions that the spray wax can be used to layer over your existing wax layer (the manufacturer hopes you've used tech wax first). If this is the case, I don't see how the spray wax could then have a small amount of cleaners in it as from what I understand the cleaners strip away some surface debris. If you look at the bottles for spray and tech wax you'll see that they both mention the same things - ESP protection, deep shine, and the ability to minimize fine scratches, etc. Unless I'm misunderstanding what I'm reading (which is very possible), something is not making sense here. If you guys have any patience left some clarification would be welcomed...

Dug, the cleaners are so light, there not going to be able to remove an existing layer of protection. The reason is simple, a cleaner surface looks better, and will provide for better durability. They also, cannot build on each other for sustained durability either. It also contain a small amount of filling oils, which arent really worth a dang, because after you have washed your car, the swirls reappear......
