Thumbs up putting 3M clear protection tape on HOOD~!~!~!

Just wondering if anyone has put on the 3M protection tape for the front of the TSX. ANd how much it might be... It helps protect your car from small rocks and crap so it doesn't get scratched...

Well, those are actually two different things made from similar materials. There is a 3M polyurethane tape, often called helicopter tape or racers tape. That is sometimes used to protect the leading edge of cars, and I guess helicopter blades, from chips and debris. I believe this is usually only a temporary protection that is used when one expects damage like when racing. Then there is the 3M clear bra material, which I have on my car that is a more permanent installation that can be done yourself if you have the patience and experience, or done by a professional installer. The clear bra protects the front of the car hood and front bumper. I got it installed at the dealer at the time of delivery. It was about $500, done by a company called Autobahnd. There are a number of other companies, X-Pel, and StonGard are two that I know of, that also offer the same type of product.

I had a 3M protective film put on my hood & fenders, the front of the mirrors and under the mudguards so they don't rub right on the car body. I had it installed by a local shop, the cost was CDN$120 all together. I wish I'd had it on right from the start. I got a big rock chip, right down to metal, the first week driving the car. The chip has been repaired, but it still shows a bit through the film. I'm thinking that the front bumper is probably flexible enough to not sustain much damage. The kit to do the bumper was going to be an additional $329, and it didn't seem worth it.
