Porter Cable 7424 polisher

I was wondering if anyone has this used this polisher? I've heard alot of great reviews on it but was really wondering if it is really worth it. Also, I was going to use it with Zaino. If anyone has any great pics, please post them. Thanks. BTW, i just got my 05 TL NBP about a month ago.

I have one and use Zaino on my NBP TL. I haven't used the PC on my car yet as it's only three months old and doesn't have swirls, scratches etc. to warrant the PC yet. I've used it on my Mom's '00 black Maxima and it works very well. Check out this link for how to use the PC properly: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-pc7424.html

I would venture to say that the tools that have had the biggest impact on detailing are - the Porter-Cable 7424/7336 rotary and Microfiber towels.

As exceldetail has already stated would not even consider detailing without it.

How do you intend to use it with Zaino? I think you can only use Z-PC (Fusion) to prep the car with PC. But Z2/5 goes on well with hand and thin.

FWIW: I find I'm able to apply really thin even coats of Zaino with a finishing pad with my PC.

I bought the PC and absolutely love it ... It's extremely user friendly. You really have to try to screw up your car while using this. It's possible but not likely if you pay attention.

I think mine just
I was using it on that Stratus over the weekend and all of a sudden it started to emit this screeching noise. It also got a little warmer then usual.....It definetely lost some of its "orbiting" functions......I was able to finish the job though (Like the PC had a choice anyway).
I may have to go for the cyclo next.......(Finally an excuse!, lol)
Many a cars Ive gotten out of it though, and its made me a ton of $$. Without a doubt, one of the better detailing investments.... I also have a virgin 7336 s/p in my warehouse......

Patrick, have you ever had your PC serviced ?....From what I recall, it's suppose to be serviced every few years. Maybe Porter Cable can do something for ya.

Its actually oiled fo life, but they do recommend servicing (brush check) and cleaning every 100 hrs. Im waaaay over 100 hrs.......So im overdue for brushes more then likely.....

Yeah, with that kind of mileage, I'd think something would eventually die.....but I understand your "need" for a cyclo

Partick, 1- Rotary 2- Cyclo 3- PC, they are all great machines so the ranking has nothing to do with quality/suitability for detailing.

I already had a HS rotary and a PC and a gf brought me a Cyclo, which I just put aside (you know-old dogs and new tricks) my PC needed brushes and so I tried it while awaiting the UPS man. Has some advantages over the PC, i.e. it's covers more area and without swirls one of the best detailing tool out there , I find I now use it more than the PC (although I prefer a PC and four-inch pad for minor scratch removal and the rotary for anything serious)

Try it I think you'll love it

Thats what worries me Jon, I have become so use to the PC, and what to expect from the products I use with it, that if I get a Cyclo, im going to "have to start all over again".....Ive never even tried the 4" pads with my PC!

definitely try the 4 inch pads...they are awesome! They make swirl remover so much easier because the for of the Porter Cable is focused more in one area. That means the PC can spin faster and it generate more heat, making it very effective at removing swirls. I love them!
