Unhappy Please Help me decide.

Hi everyone, I know this topic has been brought a lot but im really confused. So this is the situation, I have a NBP 08 TL Type S and it has some swirl marks and just a little scratches. Also first I was thinking of getting the car detailed but after I decided that it would be better if I do it by myself. So I wanted to ask you guys with which brand should I go with, Meguires or Zaino? I wanted to order in bundle so I think it will be a little cheaper, p.s. Im a newbie with car stuff so please help me out :-/. My goal is the swirl marks to not be noticable as much as possible and of course for the car to look good . here is some links I was considering but Im not sure

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...roduct_Count=1

http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/detail/MEG+COMPLETE

I was thinking about the detail addicts but I believe they didnt have a bundle for interior exterior care or smtin. But yeah those are the best ones i could find, If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.

Your guys's help will really be appreciated. Thanks in advance

What is the budget you want to stay within? What products do you already have... like MF towels, buffer, etc...? How much time do you want to spend on a full detail including claying and polishing? Reply and ill give you some recommendations.

I think I can spend around 130 bucks. But as far for the products I only have a meguires car wash and conditioner and just one sponge. I just bought the car 2 weeks ago, and I kinda got tricked lol cause it has a lot of swirl marks. Also I'm willing to spend 6-7 hrs or so on it. I wanna baby this car . Also if u have any suggestions for a car cover... Also I just bought this 100% cotton towel I was thinking of usin it on the polish but I need more towels but I'm confused, is a microfiber towel ok to use on the car?

Also thanks a lot for replying

Neither of those kits will remove or even hide the swirling . Sorry .. and realistically your not going to do it by hand .

Regarding the cotton towel .. keep it for the bathroom.. even 100% cotton means nothing .. it can induce swirling.

The M/F needed for drying is a waffle weave and for wax removal ( I doub't your polishing anything by hand ) if you have a Costco near you pick up a bundle of the yellow ones for that.

Honestly, for the time being, you are better off looking for a part time detailer who just started detailing.
The DA style buffer alone will run you about $130.
To do everything right (Buffer, pads, polish, wax or sealant, MF towels, you are looking to spend around $300 or more)

Also my cousin has a black and decker buffer, its not all that it cost him 40 bucks I think so for the time being I can use that. And I'll get a legit buffer in around a month

You would need to use so much force to polish by hand, your car should be rocking back and forth. It's too much work and not worth the effort.
Just save the money and buy the machine and everything else.
It'd honestly take you a week to polish by hand versus 6 to 7 hours by machine.

The B&D one is a waste of time too ... no power or pads etc to do any correction.

Porter Cable 7424XP is the most common one.
I personally have a Griot's garage 6 inch ROP, I like it because it has lifetime warranty against defects lol (normal wear and tear is not covered under lifetime warranty)

Neither bundle is designed to work with a buffer

Here is the least painful way to go and the products are noob friendly.

In most cases your better off to buy the PC and supplies in "non" kit form .. then you get to select exactly what you need.

How about this ;

1) PC here --> http://www.coastaltool.com/a/port/7424xp_5polisher.htm free shipping and you get the backing plate for 5.5" pads

2) 2 orange pads

3) 3 white pads

above bought here --> http://www.westcoastdetailsupply.com...hing_Pads.html

4) Optimum Polish 32

5) Optimum Compound II 8oz

6) Optimum Hyper Compound 8oz

above bought here ---> http://www.westcoastdetailsupply.com..._Polishes.html

7) Duragloss 105 TPP 16oz

Above bought here ----> http://www.westcoastdetailsupply.com..._Sealants.html

4) Optimum Polish 32

5) Optimum Compound II 8oz

6) Optimum Hyper Compound 8oz
To my knowledge, (and try to stay with me here) the Optimum Compound is being replaced with Hyper Compound Polish Spray, and the Hyper Compound, is being replaced with the Hyper Compound Spray.
The Hyper Polish Spray is really like having the Polish and the Compound in one product. I dont really care for the "spray-er", but the product itself is pretty damn sweet. Still no dust and excellent cutting and polishing.
Thanks Dale, and yes, he does know his stuff......

I've bought and tried both hyper spray compound/polish. Honestly I really don't care for the "spray-er" part either lol.
Maybe I should have given it another shot before I sold it. But I really like Megs M105 via KBM with Surbuf R and DA.

Im going to get the PC7424Xp for sure now, but as for the product im still confused between zaino, the products Jesstzn told me and this website which was suggested by my cousin, http://detailaddict.com/ he said that he knows a guy there which might be able to hook me up. But I told him that I want the best bang for the buck. So im considering one of the three. Im going to do more research and I'll let u guys know what I end up getting and how much it cost's me. Not sure if this product counts as "best bang for the buck", but I've personally converted to Prima Swirl. It's easy to use, has a long working time, a great 1 step polish, and easy to clean off pads.
All you need is warm running water to clean this stuff off your pad, I've tried quite a few Menzerna polishes, and they require more than running water to clean (that means you'd have to buy additional pad cleaning products, although people use DAWN with success)
It's $14.99 for a 16oz bottle and you can find it @ www.showcarsupplies.com
^ I drive to his shop to get my Prima fix all the time lol.

Zaino isn't going to give you the best bang by itself .. your still going to need polishes ...

Listen to the man, I just did my first job (my truck) this weekend. The products work very well.

I was in the same boat as you before, check out my thread. Towards the very end of it is the stuff I picked up. Help with picking a mechanical buffer/polisher is should also say and products.

Well looks like everyone else handled it before i came back in to post. lol

Its going to be very difficult doing a good detail job with a $130 budget. I dont know that i would pay someone to do it though because for a good detailer, even one starting out, you are going to spend $200-$300 and you could use that towards buying products.

Ill be honest with you, i think you should get the stuff you need to do a complete detail minus polishing and when you can save some money get the stuff needed for that. Just get a good wax or something to fill in the swirls till you can do that. You will probably need to re-apply every 4-6 weeks as the wax wears down and the swirls sdtart showing again.

Take some time and read this following tutorial and you will learn more then you ever thought.

http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php...-pearl-part-1/

My detailing arsenal pretty much mimics what is in Todd's writeup with a few slight variations and additions and i am happy as can be!

Also, dont limit yourself to just one brand of products. Quite honestly most bundles arent that great because they typically have 1 or 2 things you dont really need so you arent actually saving much money if any. Some people are Zaino lovers, Meguirs lovers, etc, and thats all they use. Im more of an Optimum lover, but i have products from lots of manufacturers as i recognize different companies make something better in certain categories. Find a good reputable website and get all your products from there so you only pay shipping on one order. I suggest either Detailed Image or West Coast Detail Supply.

To take a quote from Mike Philips @ Autogeekonline, "Find something you like, and use it often". Try out different products, and stick to what you like the most! You can always resell what you don't like later.
