Thumbs up

Did another wash today. Technically this will be my third time washing in 1 week, lol. This time I had a camera, so some shots are below.

Some comments:
When I did the pretreat, I now understand why you want to spray liberally. If you don't, the spray droplets stay in place and evaporate leaving the car with dirty water spots. When you are liberal, it's more of a stream that runs down the car taking the dirt with it.

Some of the marring/swirling:

A lot of the marring/swirling (this looks terrible when you look at it the right way). Kinda feel like I caused this with the clay.

3 in one week is funny....but if you see those pics, if my car got that dirty in 1 week, just imagine how dirty it gets when I go a full month without washing.

I couldn't locate 'gun' on exceldetail.com

I have another NRWS comment. I washed my towels & sheepskin mitt in the washing machine last time when I was finished. My mitt gets pretty black and towels get a little dirty too.

However, I just thought I'd "wash" out the mitt in just Dawn dish detergent in a bucket and all I can say is wow, that stuff turned my black mitt back into beige. The water was pitch black when I poured it down the tub. This got me thinking: what if when doing the wash, I throw a little dish detergent in my plain-water bucket to help get the dirt off the mitt before I place it back in the solution bucket? Is there any downside to that?

That may be detrimental to the composition of the NRWS......You could also opt for two wash mits.....

You're better off to keeping Dawn for cleaning your wash mitt after you've used it.

Not even just a dab? I wouldn't be putting so much in so that it sudsy; just a little bit to help the dirt come off of the mitt.

OK, I get it...don't use Dawn. But I guess my actual question is more generic than whether or not to use Dawn specifically; is it against the rules to use anything other plain water for the second bucket?

Just by looking at how dirty the water was when washing the mitt makes me think that that's what I'm putting back on my car, which probably explains why my towels get so dirty as well. If a hint of some agent will help get some dirt off the mitt & into the 2nd bucket, wouldn't that make the water that's applied to the car cleaner overall?

You could add a capful of ONR or car wash soap if you'd like.

So I'm watching the video again and right around 3:50, he mentions putting car soap in the other bucket. This is confusing, I thought that was supposed to be bad? Also around that marker, it seems as if the wash mitt comes out clean. My mitt always looks the same as when it went in the rinse bucket. Am I doing something wrong? Is my stoichiometry off?

No it's not bad at all to put car soap in your rinse bucket, it's just a tad wasteful, IMO. It's just using Dawn in your rinse bucket (or any bucket for that matter) is not suggested.

OK, I think I'll go with it. Won't be wasteful in my case since that would be the only thing I use it for. I just want to get the dirt off the mitt; my mitt turns black after doing the hood, windshields, & trunk. NRWS doesn't remove it from the mitt; that's probably why the first time I did it my results weren't that good; cause the mitt/water was just too dirty.
