Pinkish stain on the bumper...
Okay, so I noticed something odd on the rear bumper of the FX today. There is this faint pinkish liquid stain on parts of it...and you can clearly see the flow trail it had. Anyhow, I used water, soap, and then a cleaning solution...nothing worked to get rid of the stain.
Any ideas...? Or am I fawked? It does not look like paint IMO...
BTW, the FX is pearl white. Any suggestions will be really appreciated!

Before you try clay bar, try the vinegar. Great idea!
Vinegar is often used to remove water spots that arent etched in too deep in the paint!
Direction for vinegar:
1. Put Vinegar on MF towels
2. Put towel directly on top of the pinkish stain
3. Keep it there for a few minutes
4. Move towel away from stain and see if its improved any

^ As you can see, the pink stain is faint. There are more traces of the circles along the bumper (close to the trunk)...and in that pic, you can see the trail it left as it dripped downwards...

can you feel it on your paint? OR is it already etched in your paint?
If you can feel it on your paint when you run your finger through it (from an area that doesnt have pink stain to an area that has pink stain) , then you should try to clay bar it the best you can.
If it still wont come out then you may need to seek out a professional in your area.

If for whatever reason clay bar doesnt work.
This is pretty much your last option without resort to pay someone to detail your car:
http://www.detailersdomain.com/valug...er-stepia.aspx
http://www.detailersdomain.com/valug...r-stepiib.aspx
^ they are acid and alkaline neutralizers, if you do resort to buying and using these products, make sure you follow the directions very very carefully (directions are pretty straight forward from what I could tell). Make sure you wash it a third time with normal car wash soap though.
p.s. If you'd like, you can try P21S Total Auto Wash also, it eats through grime pretty well, safe to use on clearcoats. It is often used to clean lower rocker panel on cars/engine bay/and exhaust tips.

So basically,
1. try to clay it first
2. if clay doesnt work, give P21S Total Auto Wash a shot.
3. if the above two steps dont work, your last bet is the alkaline/acid neutralizer.

Only thing i can think of is wetsanding. Probably a bit hardcore, but if nothing else works?
If that doesn't work, you are officially fuxored and are looking at a repaint I think.
You park in a garage? Might help if we knew exactly what the stain is? Any pipes run over that area of your parking spot?

well, as they always say, start with the least aggressive method.
So something like Menzerna 106FA with white pad first.
If that fails then move onto Menzerna IP with orange.
Still doesnt work? Megs 105 with wool, then finish down with 106FA with white. To jewel the paint use Menzerna PO85RD with black

Needs more Lemon Pledge
Yum, have you had it in for service recently? It looks like someone set a wet something and it left a ring around the something behind. Brake fluid?

This is really bothering me and now I'm dreading the possibility of a repaint. It's an expense I could go without right now.
Here's hoping my visit to the detailer on Tuesday morning will yield some good news...

Yeah. The car was in service recently...and definitely, it looks like something wet and colored (pink/red) was left on the bumper.

Wow - that sucks! Take it back to the place that did the service and ask them what the heck it was. Something like this happened to me and they paid for the detail.

Taking it back to the dealer won't yield anything. They'll just deny they had anything to do with it, and unless you have any evidence that the dealer caused the damage, they won't do anything.
It doesn't really look that noticeable. If a detailer can't take care of it, I wouldn't even bother going the paint route. Not worth it IMO

If not, my hope is that the repair of that stain will be doable with the detailer and is not too pricey. If not, well...a repaint is going to be pricey.
I suppose it's not that noticeable. But, it bothers the heck outta me.

So, went to the detailers...they used something called "gum wash". The pink stain came out. It's apparently a paint thinner...?
Whew. Thanks for all the advice people.

paint thinner? Why was that on your car?
It might've just been someone dropping a bit on your car while passing, because I don't know why a dealership would have paint thinner close to ANY bumper in the service bay.
Anyways, at least it's gone now
