Paint Protection

I just put my a-spec kit on and now im worried about what the winter will do to it with all the salt and sand getting sprayed around. What would be the best way to protect my paint from this? Any particular products? or just simple wash and wax as much as possible? Thanks.

there's a thread already on this. but just make sure you have a really durable sealant that will get you through the winter. just look for the "winter tips for snow country" it will show you how to upkeep your car during winter also.

wash and wax as much as possible
You got it! Its a good time to perfect your wash techniques for when she wakes up come April. Try to keep the salt buildup to a minimum (if possible) its not real good for protectants. Also, when you do 'wax", use a quality "wax". Some of those OTC products are just plain "cheap".......My Winter recommendations include Collinite 476, and 845, as well as Four Star UPP.

Wax isn't going to help a lot with the sand etc and I don't think a bra will fir over the A Spec .. you might want to do the clear bra on the front and the tape over on the mirrors, rocker panels etc.

Im considering putting some clear packaging tape over the front lip and directly behind the wheels on the skirts and rear lip to avoid scratching and pitting from kick-up. Comments on this?

I actually have a small Winter Kit for those who can actually give attention to their cars in the Winter, just a few simple products.
Qt of NRWS, 1 Gal Sprayer, Coll 845, towels, DG AW and apps. Reg price around $75.00, now $66.99

You going to find;
A) The tape is going to leave adhesive residue behind that will be a dog to get off in the spring.

B) It sticks so hard that you may pull some of the clear coat off trying to remove it in the spring.

Thats why I recommend the electical tape ..

Even if I put a nice coat of Teflon wax right before hand? Alternative option I'm thinking of is rigging up some kind of makeshift splash guard for the aspec so that it gives a litte more protection from kick-up.

Do they make silver electrical tape?

You can try this but not sure how the adhesive would be on the paint finish:

Eeeeeeeeeks! Not Duct Tape! It protects great, but could ultimately be damaging.

I will never put duct tape on my car. Not only does it leave adhesive behind when you take it off, it also will look terrible and who knows what itll do to my clear coat.

Never seen silver electrical tape ..

I have made extenders for my mud flaps out of those roll up toboggans and you could do the same .. just make them so they use exidting bolts.
