paint chip and a little rust

DAMN...I just noticed a small chip and light rust coloring....what do I do?

I would try to scrape the rust away with the tip of a sharp utility knife. Take some rubbing alcohol or Prepsolve (paint cleaner). Clean the area really well. If you have some rust inhibitor, dab a little in the hole. Let it dry. Fill with touchup paint. Enjoy.

I have some of this on hand. I actually bought it from Griot's but they don't seem to list it anymore. It came with a nice tool (stick with scrape head) to carefully scrape away the surface rust before using the 3M Rust Avenger.

The 3M Rust Avenger supposedly chemically converts the residual rust to a paintable primer.

For my one chip I used this and it seemed to work fine. Of course I fixed it before it rusted too, so that helps.
