Optimum No Rinse comments and questions

I have been hearing and reading the hype about Optimum No Rinse and so I thought I'd check it out. It's been raining here the last couple days and so I thought I'd forgo the usual Zaino Z7 wash to try this on my lightly soiled CTS-V. I used the one bucket method as my car was not severely soiled. Sprayed a little on each panel and used a new microfiber mitt to apply, then clean cotton towel to dry.

It cleans and shines very nicely but doesn't have the same "pop" as a Z7 wash. In my garage. At night, it looks really good! In the light of this morning, pulling out to go to work, it didn't look as sparkly as the S2000 it bunks with, which is maintained exclusively with Zaino. I'll be fixing that this afternoon when I get home with some Z7.

In short, it works very well to clean the car and looks awesome for the wheels! It just needs something else to finish the job. I admit it is MUCH less work to use compared to my usual wash with Z7, which is yet another reason I wanted to try it.

That brings me to my questions.

Can I apply Z7 after an ONR wash?
Should I use the two-bucket method even on a lightly soiled car?
Does this preclude my using other Zaino products e.g. my semiannual Z2 application?

Thanks in advance!

First your not comparing apples to apples , Z7 supposedly has gloss enhansers in it .. ONR is a wash product.

Second you elaborate on your ONR wash method. You kind of lost me there.

Usually with ONR for soiled cars you "can" pre spray with the ONR mix to pre treat then you use a sheepskin mitt dipped in the ONR solution in a pail , gently wipe down the panel then dry. Then ( if your using the 2 bucket method ) rinse the mitt and dip it on the ONR and do the next panel. etc etc ...

Fot not so soiled cars I drop the pre spray.

I see your into the Zaino cotton towel thing ... I wish he (sal) would move on, a good non-marring cotton towl is near impossible to find ... waffle weave M/F towels are a way safer.

I don't use Zaino-branded towels, just good quality cotton towels.

I reread my OP and I apologize for my error. Must have been still half asleep. I had a second bucket for rinsing the mitt after each section.

Thanks for your clarification as that helps my expectations with this product.

Sorry if you guys misunderstood.

I made another error in my original post that added to the confusion. My question was actually about using Z6 gloss enhancer spray after using ONR.

Jesstzn, thanks for your clarification on what the ONR is best for and for what the Z7 is best for.

I tried ONR just to experiment with something different. My schedule is such that a good hose wash is sometimes out of the question, and using the ONR took me all of ten minutes. I think I'll use it again, mostly for a touch up wash prior to going to Cars and Coffee or something.

Posting when exhausted from call FTL. Much better today.
