opinion on chamios?
I just bought a piece of genuine turtle wax chamois to dry my car and I was wondering what you guys think about chamois?
Also, my chamois has gotten really hard when dry (I mean really really hard) I have to soak it so it gets soft. It has also started to get some black spots what is this from?
Thanks; hope to get your opinion

My chamois was pissing me off, same problems you're having..
I just bought "The Absorber," which seems to be like a softer type of chamois, many guys on here recommended it. Haven't had a chance to test it out, as it has rained just about everyday since I bought the thing..

I've been using the absorber. $10 at Kmart. I works pretty damm good. I put it in the washing machine after each use. If it picks up some dirt you might scratch you car on the next use. After using it I finish off with large cotton bath towel. No water spots.

my 2 cents
ScReW the Waterblade, as soon as you pick up a piece of dirt or it rips... it'll scratch the fawk outta your car... I use the absorber, if you store it in its original container, it shouldnt get hard, I recommend wetting it before each use anyway, then wring it out & begin... hope that helps...
i just realized what a stupid sounding question i asked . . . .
i realize the motor part is gonna be noisy - but haviong never heard an electric one - im wondering if it is anywhere near as noisy as gas . . . in total sound . . .
and Duane - dont make me use capital letters here . . .
if you are having a problem hearing me - squint :P

I use the absorber. Store it wet with a touch (very, very little) of car wash. It won't get hard. Spots are probably mold. A little car wash will prevent mold and smell. Rinse it well to remove the car wash before each use.

I'm an "absorber " lover too. store it moist. plus it only starts smelling if you do not use it frequently. After you use it for the first time again the smell is gone. Plus depending on the color of your car. I recomend getting one to also wash the car with. It helps keep away the swirl marks. NEVER use a bath towel on a dark car, even if it's cotton. It's still abrasive.

I don't think it makes a difference.
Dry, I think it is more prone to tearing and people don't like it stiff. The idea of storing it wet was probably from consumer research.
When I read this thread, I have to remind myself what we are talking about. stiff, wet, dry, ABSORBER..:P
I recommened the Absorber and the California Waterblade. At first I was a little shaky with the waterblade...but it cuts the time it takes to dry the car in 90% of time leaving no scratches either...then I use the Absorber to wipe up whatever little water is left.

has anyone tried using a blowleaf blower to dry the car? I have read other post about people using them. Can you get the car completely dry with the blower or do you need to hand dry certain spots? let me know your experiences, thanks
chamios
I bought a chamoi as soon as i bought my car. It leaves white stuff all over my ride. I re-soaked it over and over again. Have I not done it enough or what's the problem. Right now I just use bath towels.
