New Custom Paint-What do I really need?

Hey Guys, Just got my 01 CLS painted Montego Blue from stock Anthracite Black and just wanted to know what to use to protect the paint and keep the shine.I did some search but got confused if I need to Clay, Polish or just a good wax.
What sort of wax(synthetic, natural),what brand should I be looking for and what kind of orbital should I invest in?
I am on a budget but want to protect the new paint at the same time.
Keep in mind, I'm a total NOOB-never waxed or polished before!!!

Thanks in advance.

The sticky New Car Care Suggestions/Advice at the top has good info on getting started.

Also, I would check with your body shop to see how long after the paint job before you should apply any polish/wax. It's usually around 15-30 days, but it would be nice to confirm that before hand

It has been abt 20 days so I think it is the right time to seal and protect.
Anyone heard of 5 Star Shine product??
It has mixed reviews, just wondering if anyone has used it here..

Wait time is typically 30-60 days. I would not seal the paint after only 20 days. I know it is tough to wait but your paint will not fade or oxidize. Unless your paint was baked by the paint shop I would still wait for the paint solvents to outgas. What does the paint shop say?

Never used ut ,,, but my way of thinking is if the reviews are mixed then I don't go there unless I know why they are mixed.

If your serious have a look at 4 Star UPP that Patrick ( Exceldetail.com ) sells ... we know that works ..

I hv read on quite a few forums that 5 Stat Shine does last 3-4 months and very easy to maintain as u simply brush off the dust and rinse the car..

Waxes like Zaino and Mothers do attract dust and give in after 4-6 weeks. Is that true?

Pretty well any LSP will attract dust. Especially right after allpication as a static charge is built up during the application. As for lasting .. Zaino properly applied and cared for will last longer than 6 weeks .. as for Mothers .. what one you talking about? There are a lot of them and all have different charactaristics.
See bold above ... it sounds like your getting some of the signals mixed up.

Thank u all for the input..
As per suggestions, I 've decided to wait for another 2 weeks before I do any work on the new paint and also staying away from the 5 Star Shine.

went on Autopia,Autogeek and googled and there r sooo many reviews all over in different forums...I was keen on Klasse AIO and SG but then came across Werkstat line and after fair bit of research decided to give it a try.
Some other close ones were Wolfgang,Blackfire,Collinite,4 Star.

Finally got a chance to test Jeffs Werkstatt product lineup on my newly painted CLS.
Applied Prime, waited 1 hour, buffed, sprayed JWT and buffed. Very easy to use and I was astonished by the results.
Will apply second coat tomorrow and do a proper photo shoot..

Tires,Rotors,Pads, Wipers,Bulbs,Rims are new as well.

What do u guys think?
