Need Opinion regarding buffer

Hi guys.

Just wondering if "buffing" the car is really that hard. I mean I really want to do it myself, but I'm afraid if I buy one, it would go too waste (as it doesn't work as it should or I'm doing something wrong). I have tons of spider webs and minor scratches on my car and it needs to be clean. I have everything to clean my car which includes mothers car wash soap, mothers polishing compound, meguiars wax, mothers polish, armor all wheel and tire cleaner/shine and mother's clay bar kit. Only thing I am missing is the buffer and I have tried using a microfiber towel and putting the polish on it and rubbing it on the scratches/spider webs on the car and it doesn't do anything. When the car is cleaned you obviously don't see nothing (as in spider webs and scratches) in the dark, but when it gets sunny, you see all the bad imperfections

Also does it matter what kind of buffer I get? I saw one at Advance Auto Parts for $40, I was about to get it. Anything wrong with that? Or do they work all the same. And will I need those pads if I buffer? Or are they not necessary. I'll try to post some pictures of those scratches/spider webs tomorrow, but I only have my iPhone

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

The machines quality has everything to do with the end results. Just keep walking right by that $40.00 one! They just dont have the power to provide adequate swirl removal, not to mention the pad selection which is equally important.
Stick with a winning combination as with the Porter Cable and Erasures!

I used to think it was so hard and complicated, but after reading on this forum and practicing with my Porter Cable, I have no fear any more

How much does those cost are your site? Sorry college internet is slow.

Thanks!

So basically almost every scratches can be buffed out as long as it didn't pass the clear coat or w/e? I did the finger nail method and it doesn't have the gap, so I'm assuming it can be buffed out. I was thinking about letting someone local do the job for me for $165, not a bad price, but with 120$ I could be doing it by myself!

Well, it will actually cost you about what you were quoted, as you need polishes, pads and a sealant. But the beauty of $160.00 on products vs. same amount having someone else do it, is self gratification, and several years worth of beauty and protection compared to a couple months.
