Clay & wax or Power buff & wax?
You usually want to clay the whole car before polishing, to avoid getting the contaminants you remove with clay from getting onto the polishing pad. Claying is such an easy and quick procedure, it shouldn't be skipped.

If you don't clay, you're not doing a thorough of enough job, IMHO.
Test it... do your buff and wax and then use the clay and see how many impurities and crap it gets off.
I think you'll end up using the clay bar going forward.

You should do it yourself. You can get a claybar from Amazon. You can watch a youtube video about it:

Then I recommend using Liquid Glass. This is not a wax but a polymer. It's awesome and lasts for 6 months. Very easy to apply and remove.
