Need Advice

I have a 2007 Acura TL and I was driving to work yesterday and something (rock, plastic, ???) hit my car on the interstate. It hit the passenger side front bumper and chipped the paint right beside the headlight. The bumper has a few scratches and one that I can actually feel with my fingernail. I own the UDM from you with the Orange, White, and Red pads. I have the Optimum Compound, Polish and UPP. I also have some Quixx Scratch Repair System if you think that will help. I have ordered some touchup paint from my dealer and will be able to pick it up on Friday.

How do I proceed in fixing it? I can start addressing the scratches tonight if you have some expert advice.

If someone can walk me through inserting an image into this thread, I have some pictures.

other than using the udm to soften up the scratches, there is not much you can do with the udm...using touch up paint is most likely going to yeild the touch up kind of results....you are pretty much stuck with it....unless you get the bumper repainted....

Bill, I got your EM but lets open this up for discussion here for ideas. I think the touch up, in conjunction with Quixx and UDM/Polish is a great idea! Obviously, darker colors and metallics are the hardest to match up with. Keep your work area as concentrated as possible. Always use IPA before using the touch up. How about a pic, so we can establish an article to apply the touch up with? You probably dont want to use the brush included.

Use Photobucket to upload your pics too. Then put the links in here to post them. I'd make them thumbnail size.

You left out the HTML tags on the ends. Should be [img] on the front and [/img] on the end. Like the URL tags. Then the pics will show up here. As they are, everyone has to click on them to see the pic. At least you have them out here now. You may have selected the wrong pic link. Your learning

The chip doesn't look too bad. Just use the touch up paint to cover it up, but like Excel said... use some IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to clean it up first.

Why do the bumper scratches look like paint transfer? Maybe it's just me.....

It might very well be paint transfer because I am not sure of what exactly it was. I only saw the blur of the object right before it hit the car.

Use a clay bar to clean up the bumper. If it's paint transfer, the marks should pretty much come right out.

Since it appears that the bumper is plastic, does that make it more difficult to repair if the scratches are deep. I did use the clay last night and it really did not change anything.
