my first zaino experience - comments
I just had my first zaino experience this weekend. I'm simply amazed. I had a few troubles though. Application very thin was hard. I was doing 1 coat with 2 ounces +zfx. My second coat was more efficient. I've heard the tricks with using water/z6 to spread it out thinly and also your 3 lines strick.
I was using a MF towel and I was thinking maybe those are too absorbent. Perhaps an applicator pad would work better? I tried using water/z6 to help spread it out but it's misleading. How do you know the coat you just applied is water or z6 or z2? At first I did this and I was like, "sweet, it spreads forever", but when it dried there was only z2 trails on half. I must admit that I put the z2 on the applicator, I didn't swirl it around to maximize surface area... I left it as a tiny dab. Why I didn't think of using my finger to spread it out on the applicator, I don't know.
How much pressure do you apply on the car?
I found I have to put a very small amount of z2 on my MF towel or else too much will be applied on the car at that specific spot. I've also tried dabbing a few place on the car panel and spreading it out that way.
The zfx containers seemed impossible to clean.
I z2's my windows and after I was done I noticed water spots on the rear. I used a MF towel soaked with dawn/water and I felt it was pretty effective in stripping the z2 on my rear window so I could thoroughly clean it and reapply z2 after.
Applying zaino to my pda, window, sunglasses was the most brilliant thing I've heard of. fingerprints are almost non-existent. The tree sap that was on my car the next morning came off sooo easily.

You should be able to get at least two coats out of just one ounce. One trick is to spray the Z-6 and immediately remove over the entire car before you start the ZFX/Z-2. You'll then have a slicker surface for the ZFZ/Z-2 applications.
You should have gotten a cotton applicator pad with your shipment. If not, some people have had good experience with foam applicators you can get at the local auto-parts store or use a 100% cotton towel. I put on two thin ribbons in an "X" pattern on the applicator, then fold over to distribute a little better.
You should barely be able to see the Zaino on the car/truck. When the pad with the Zaino on it hits the paint, the Zaino is on there, even though you may not be able to see it, especially on white and silver. Some places are thicker than others. No need to spread it around to get a uniform layer. In some places the Zaino will be thicker. In the places you can't see the Zaino, don't worry, it's on there. We're talking thin, thin, thin here. Go back and forth on horizontal surfaces and up and down on vertical. One pass is all that's needed. Come back on a new section, then a new section, et cetera.
When washing the container, fill it half full with isopropyl alcohol (99 cents at the drug store for a large bottle), shake, do it again with the alcohol, then with liquid detergent.
Use your ZFX/Z-2 on your wheels, too. Also the Z-6. Makes the brake dust so-o-o much easier to remove.

ya i got the applicator pad with it. Didn't use it but I think I'm gonna use it next time.
I did put it on my wheels. Good tip =P. Didn't think to use z6. I'll do that tomorrow =P.
this is the exact method I used. I was worried about it being non-uniform though.
How much alcohol do you fill the zfx container with? You mentioned using a liquid detergent afterwards. Am I correct in assuming the container must be devoid of all zaino first? water doesnt mix well with wax.

No need for the Zaino to be uniform-looking when it's on the paint.
Edit: Added the word "looking" to read uniform-looking.
No need to use circular motions with Zaino. It's hard not to, at the beginning. Just back and forth on horizontal surfaces and up and down on vertical surfaces. As I said in a previous post, once the pad with the Zaino on it hits the surface, it's on there, and additional passes over the same area are a waste of time and product.

I've started using Castrol Super Clean, purple bottle at PepBoys, to clean the bottles. 2 squirts in the bottle and 2 shakes and the Zaino is gone. Even better is a syringe, at the end there is only 1 drop of Zaino to clean out.

Ira I heard you talking about syringes and how you were testing out some that were clear. How did that pan out? Also, syringes arent too easy to come by... where can you get some? [/QUOTE
Here's 2 sources that have them at reasonable prices. Remember, 6cc of polish requires 1 drop of ZFX and you need a syringe big enough to shake up. So either a 30-35cc or a 60cc syringe should work fine.
