Mini "how to" remove scratches 56k go away
So last night my daughter decided to "clean" daddy's car.
She took one of her hair brushes and scrubbed my car. Lucky for me it was all in one general area, passenger rear door. It looked much worse than the pictures show because I wiped it down with Zaino Z6 when I first saw it....that removed the white of the scratches.
First the culprit!
Next we have the weapon of choice!
It doesn't look like it could do too much damage, but it really scratched my car's finish pretty good.
So the first step is to wash the car to make sure the surface is clean. You can use most any type of car soap but I always liked Zaino, until I tried the Poorboys....that is some slick car wash and it smells great. Make sure you hold on to your sponge because it will want to slip right out of your hand!
Now it's all clean
Now we have to cut the scratches down., for this I used my Porter Cable, some yellow Lake County pads and a couple abrasives.
I started with the Menzerna Intensive Polish, which I absolutely love. I put it on the yellow pad and spread it out on the scratched area.
After I worked it in twice the scratches were still there. It is always better to try a less abrasive polish first, because you can always try something more aggressive later if the first one doesn't "cut" it.
It's very hard to see in this pic but the scratches are still there, just diminished a little.
So I had to bring in the big guns, Meguires Heavy-Cut cleaner #4. Ran this once over the scratches and it really leveled them out pretty good. I then went back to the Menzerna Intensive polish and then did a quick Menzerna Final Polish II which I used a white Lake County pad.
Lastly I put some Natty's Wax on it using a Red Lake County pad and well the results speak for themselves.
Anyway, it's all better and I hope this helps others
