Metal Polish on Tips

do u guys think that i should use metal polish to get rid of the black dirt that is on the tips from the old owner?

PS..----- it is so tough that i may need to use a metal scrubber thing.......

Not sure what you mean by "metal scrubber thing", but I wouldn't use it. Have you tried claying the "black dirt" (tar?)?

The metal exhaust tips seem to be susceptible to micro-scratching. I have tried using Sonus Chrome Polish and Mothers Reflections line but neither have been able to get a mirror-like finish.

I've used NevrDull wadding to clean the inside of the exhaust tiips and some of the stubborn grime on the outside. Works great. Then just wax the outside chrome.

Mothers and Flitz work well on chrome and metal.

I can't imagine what would've ruined the plating - sorry to hear about that. I took some polish to the tips of our TSX just to see if I could bring out some lustre. I haven't confirmed it, but I figured them to be stainless steel.

I've heard great things about the Mr. Clean eraser to remove some of the gunk/carbon buildup on tips. Another option is the drill-mount jeweler's rouge kit. Sears sells one, and I've been meaning to pick it up. I've seen the results on some expensive Corsa tips - they look brand new afterward.

Hmmmm I have some Mr. Clean erasers (wheel and tire). I'll have to try them on the exhaust tips. Thanks for the suggestion.

How about Brasso metal polish? I use it on stainless steel. Real stinky stuff, but works well.

What do you mean the chrome fell off? Aren't your exhaust tips made from polished stainless steel like the TSX?

Yea i just used Mother's billet steel shine. The outside looks pretty new, the inside is pretty clean except the lower bottom can't be picked up.
